Should I buy extended warantee
My wife now drives our MY2009 C300 4Matic. It has about 48.000 KM on it now. The Canadian 4 year OEM warantee runs out in October.
The question now: is it worthwhile to purchase the additional 2years full + 1 year Power train extended warantee from MB Canada?
It's almost $3000 including tax.
What have others done?

How many miles / km are you planing to drive? How long you planing to keep the car? Do you have any mayor problems before? What package you have? More electronics, more risk...

do some research and see what are the major problem the car will have ... and decide from there. If the problems are small and can be easily fix out of the dealer, than dont get it .. sometime things happen but its a hit or miss... really up to you.

My warranty expires Sept 8 and I am really debating what to do. I have a pretty basic build, only 32K and am pretty mechanically inclined(for the simple/moderate stuff) so I am contemplating rolling the dice and forgoing coverage.

That's what I did too. the cheapest warranty I could find was over $4k and only extended it for 2 years. anything that can possibly go wrong, I can fix with that 4$k

$4k for 2 years?? yikes.. that's a down payment for a new lease or purchase. If you've been having lots of issues with your car now then I guess it could pay off in the long run, but if that's the case, shouldn't you upgrade to a newer model anyways? I guess it's a hit or miss for someone people. I haven't had any big issues and I maintain my car so I don't expect any major issues to come soon. I might be dumb thinking this way but I'll save $4k in the short term.

Yes, buy it. You can always cancel it when you sell the car and get most of the money back. What company is the warranty through? Offer the dealer $2500 if its $3000. I have owned 3 w204's and I have a total of about $10-15,000 of work covered by my warranties. They are awesome cars but riddled with problems, you would have to be crazy to not get a warranty!
