brought the rear down some more

I had some experience with similar Buddy Club coilovers, trying to fix mistakes made by BC in a custom batch of CO's for another car. Changing the spanner at the bottom is the normal way to set ride height. Messing with the upper spanner nuts only changes the preload, and does not directly change ride height.
You may have the option of stiffer, shorter springs to drop ride height. Need to contact D2 tech on that.

To lower the car, did you turn the shock body (part that purple lock nuts turn on) all the way into the lower body (bottom right of pic above) that does not rotate? That would be the lowest setting. The "preload" set by the upper 2 purple lock nuts, does not change ride height. Most kits say don't mess with the preload setting.

The purple nuts should be set precisely for the right preload, or bench compression of the spring. You messed with it, although the instructions say don't do it, so you should call D2 and find the correct way to reset the "preload", which has nothing to do with ride height. It's a standard proceedure, and you can do it with the struts on the car.

However, I do not feel that the red coincides with the white color and body shape of the Mercedes. When I see or hear of euro's (BMW, MB, Audi, etc) I think clean, sleek, and simple.
The red is REALLY BOLD and way too much for my taste.

As I said before, don't change the pre-compression of the spring, as defined by the two vertical arrow heads pointing toward each other, by messing with the "A" nuts.
The D2 spring rates are about 600 lb/in, vs about 200 lb/in stock rates.

2) -- On the front, you must not change the two spanner-nuts that set the preload, as shipped, correct?
