Head restraints - how do I pop it out (not put it back in)
Head restraints - how do I pop it out (not put it back in)
So my c300 had the head restraints pop open after a rear fender bender...
I had the drivers side back in within 2 mins. While my buddy was fooling around with the passenger side.... He push the locking pin /hook before I could put the head restraint back in
so now it won't go back in anymore... I tried figuringout how to make it release again but wasn't successful - am I going to have to rear end my car to fix it?
(the locking pin that holds the headrest in place kinda looks similar to a trunk latch... But I can't figure out how to release it)
Anyone ever take one apart or have any ideas?

I think you better head to the dealer to get that placed properly. That must be a nasty rear end to get those things pop-out.

W203 slightly modified
If you open the back of the seat (the rear panel) you will find the rear neck-pro harness. you can disconnect from there and if you do enough research you can determine the voltage which makes the headrest pop.
Then you can do the whole thing again.

Oh are you sure it is electronic? My car is a 09 and doesn't require that long skinny L shaped tool to reset them like some people on here were talking about.. I was pretty sure it was strictly mechanical, now I'm confused.
And shotgun Banjo, it's like air bags, sometimes they go off easier than other times... I read on here another guy who says his daughter kicked the back of his seat and made it pop open ...

the headrest. I got a new one. The old one just randomly broke while I was driving. I must of leaned too hard on it. Plastic pieces was everywhere. Bought new one off eBay.

I have a floppy headrest so was searching around for answers. i came across a video, its for a Jeep but looks the same as a Mercedes, its not in english but pretty easy to understand what he is doing. He shows how he removed the headrest.
