2011 c300 4matic
intermittent p0422 code on 2011 c300
the efficiency of left cat is insufficient p0422
it shows up for few weeks then goes away
but its happening with more frequency and stays longer every time.
is there a common problem with associated with this code?
no misfires no other engine codes
what else can cause it besides the obvious bad cat?

Had a very similar issue on my 14 c300. Tried replacing the cheeper parts first but ended up replacing the cat. It caused no real driving issues but I had money to put into my car so I got it fix a year or so after there check engine light.
I found a remanufactured one fromm a company in Canada pretty cheap. I'll try to find their info for you

Many things like a miss fire leaking injector or many things. As I said you can try replacing o2 sensors and stuff but most likely the converter is bad and will need replaced. Usually you would get a o2 sensor code not a converter code if the sensor was bad.

im assuming that if cat was bad this code would stay constant and not disappear on its own every other week

sounds right!
Something in the combustion is acting up and cat's paying for it.
Check if you see lean fuel trim.
stuck injector?
how old are plug/coils?
