I've always had this issue as well with my 2014 C250. Mine only feels like 2 seconds though before the mic comes on/unmuted. I've never tried pressing the mute button to get it to unmute faster.
My understanding for the delay is the phone is trying to determine an available microphone source, this is especially true when you have the phone also connected to the media cable and it has more "things" to check for mic capability.

I have an iPhone 6S running iOS 10.1.1 and have this same issue. I did NOT have the issue with an earlier version of iOS (can't pinpoint exactly when it started, I also changed carriers and got a new 6S in that time). It's really annoying. Anyone heard anything else? Anyone notice this issue has come BACK when updating iOS?
