2010 C300 Will not start right after getting gas ! ( Twice Already )
So long story short. Pull up to Shell and pump $40 VPower and when I go to start the car, I hear the click and typical hesitation before it stalls off. I try it quite a few times to now success. Call MB Roadside assistance and before they make it to me ( Estimated wait time 3 hours :/) I try one more time about 45 minutes later and again slowly but surely after hesitation seams to crank up but was vibrating a bit up to about 1K RPM. I was running low on fuel but not that bad, because the gas station was on a slope I figured that was the cause and called tow truck off. Well yesterday ( week after ) I get gas and BOOM again the same thing. Only this time I kept trying to crank it up against my will thinking I would break the starter or ignition and after 20 minutes and like on the 6th try it started again. Does anybody have a clue what this might be ? Im talking it to the dealer wednesday, but its worth noting that the car turns on and rides like a gem after it starts again. Its obviously related to the fuel system and the other day when I opened the gas tank I sounded like a soda can with gas coming out.

But why would it only give me a problem when I pump gas ? I have driven the car at least 30 times during the week with no problem, its that initial startup after pumping gas. Maybe when something happens when I open the gas tank and gets air ?

I know this is late, but I had exact same problem. I replaced the vent valve on the charcoal canister. This also threw a cel code. Problem fixed, one more thing do not over fill tank to get that last bit of gas in the tank as this seems to cause alot of problems.

I should have never responded, my problem came back. My car has bank to lean code for for both banks, same as last time but without vent valve code. What Is happening is when the outside temp gets cold I'm getting start problems after fueling and getting p0170 and p0174 codes when driving. Only way to start engine is to hold gas pedal to floor and crank and only then it will start. This is only happening when temps get cold outside, about 45f or less and after filling tank. I ordered a mass air flow sensor, I will post my results. I hate to start throwing parts at it but with dismal reliability of european maf's I will give it a try.

I had those two errors. Turned out after I reinstalled my engine cover/airbox assembly, I didn't attach a small hose. Double check to make sure yours is connected. It's just a small rubber house a little more than an inch in diameter if I recall. It is located near the center of the engine underneath the engine cover. After I re attached this hose, the CEL reset itself after a certain number of drives.

It was a p0171 and whatever the other code is for bank too lean. All hoses connected. Anybody know what a normal maf at idle should be in (lb/min)? Mine was at 0.399 lb/min the last time my cel came on.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but, Im having the same problem on a 2010 C300 4matic, P0171 P0174... Has anyone fixed this issue..? I deleted the cel codes with DAS and came back on the next drive. no recent work was done...

Quest for the solution
Isaac, did you ever get a serious solution to the issue?
I ask because I just bought a C300 and mine is doing exactly what you have described. So before I go throwing tons of money away on things it will not be I thought to ask.
Thanks for any information you may be able to provide.
