2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC Sport
Do I need the 2012 maps update?
I just got my W204 (CPO) and am not sure if it has the most up-to-date maps. Does anyone know how to check this, or where to get a DVD to update it?

Well your car is 2010, unless it's updated, there are newer versions out since then.

Right, I just don't know if the previous owner ever updated. Do you know of any way to check this via the Navi screen?

This and that.
Other than that, the way I figured it out was by going to areas of the city which I know are very new. They wouldn't show up on maps!

Pull up the Navigation Screen.
Click the Navi pull-down menu.
Scroll to the bottom where it says 'Map Version"
Click "Map Version"

ps. Option is not there on pre/early-release COMAND versions.

As for obtaining the map data.

You can get it directly from Navteq.
Your Mercedes Dealership.
Often on eBay. (but that may be hit or miss)
Occasionally from someone here.



And, "do you need it" well, its getting pretty far out of date. Do you actually drive places or just in your own town? If you drive trips, then you are very likely to run into new and changed roads. Frankly all maps are always out of date, including dynamic versions. But newer is always better.

Be careful on the updates as sometimes you need your command software to be updated as well as my poi text dissapeared when i updated my 09. Dealer said a new command software is needed to make everything work.

I noticed lots of areas where my map doesn't have. I contemplated getting the latest version, but for $250 it just doesn't make sense.
