Do you need your 2012 upgraded tail lights programmed to your 2008 or 2009 C-Class?

From the picture I posted, the correct part number is 204 545 8201, which is from my 2009 C350. I assume the C300 would be the same.
I looked up W204Man's part number and on parts.com and it pulls up 2010-11 SAM units. I was able to program W204Man's tail lights to operate properly with no errors on my car; when he installed on his car the lights operate properly, but he now gets a new error and I have no idea why or what the error is. The only cause I can think of for this error is that it looks like his SAM unit was a 2010-11 part number according to parts.com.
So if you have the same partnumber W204Man posted I would suggest not sending me your SAM for programming unless you can look past the new error you would get to have your lights functioning properly. If you have the part number I posted, send it my way and you wont have any errors.

Does anyone know how to get a hold of ranorris2? I swapped my taillights and would like his help to reprogram my SAM. Looks like he's been MIA for a while.

Realizing this thread is entitled mainly for 2008/2009 SAMs, have any members had success with reprogramming the 2010/2011 SAM for C63 for the 2012 tail light upgrade? If so, can anyone provide contact information and/or success rate?

i have a '11 and bought the '12 led tails and a '12 rear sam ... i also have the star diagnostic in developer mode from a reparable source and will be programming mine shortly ...

This what i know. for the 2011 there are only 2 options concerning the rear sam if you were to change out the read tails for OEM led ones. Either you need to buy a 2012 rear sam and program it with sdn. or install your 2011 rear sam in a 2012 model and program it for leds then. i have posted screen shots of some of the settings that need to be changed for 08-10 models ...

Yes, this is where I am as well. I have a 2010 C63 and have heard of specific challenges when trying to work a 2010 SAM. I'm looking forward to getting the Euro version with the amber turn signals and retro them into my US spec car. If there's no one able to reprogram a 2010 SAM, I may just take the Euro version for my model year and leave it at that.
