It was my point because if MB builds them there, they should be cheaper what with no shipping or duty. Apparently the sales volume would never justify in country production.

BTW, do drive trains and electronics for SA cars come from Germany?

You think a Merc is overpriced in Australia. Check the price in Thailand a C300 goes for well over 100K

In alot my posts related to this topic you'll find I mention that 'alot' of other Countries aside from the U.S get ripped hard on market vehicle pricing ! as said in my earlier post a C250 can cost up to and over 100k here in Aust. a C300 variant will be higher - BTW what currency are you referring to when you say 100k in Thailand ??? I'm assuming that it's not the Bart but $USD ?? if that's the case it's no worse than here in Aust.

AFAIK Singapore has one of the highest costs on vehicles, but it would be interesting to see how it works out with our dollar at an average of 1.3 times the Singapore dollar ATM.

At the end of the day it dosn't really matter because there's nothing you can do about markets, value of the dollar, tax rates etc. etc. it is what it is, if you really want something and it costs alot of money you either cough up or go without
