body work advice
Hey guys need some help deciding which way to go about this?
I need my front bumper repainted from under bumper scratches from previous owner and a hood that has dents throughout the middle also from previous owner. Every body shop I took it too said I need a new hood and isnt repairable they said I also have to paint the fenders for it to match. I know a guy who does body work on the side who said he can Fix existing hood n paint my bumper. So my ? Is can I get away without doing the fenders and also will I be better off replacing the hood the dents are small can only see during bright daylight from an angle he said he would do it for about $600 depending which paint material I go with body shop wanted 2k for fenders hood n bumper not including the cost of the hood

I would agree haha. but in my opinion I would assume they can fix the hood the same way they could fix a fender by rolling it properly? if that's not an option you could always get a carbon fiber hood cover to fit and hide that dent ? as far as bumper goes I was quoted 350 for a repaint on mine just today.

Ye the body that qouted 2k also qouted $350 for the bumper seems most of the labor cost is in blending the front.so im not sure if doing hood n bumper only wont mismatch

doubt that it would mismatch you're just respraying it and the bumper is usually a different color than the hood and fenders because it is plastic slightly noticable.

I have the same problem and color. For the bumper I plasti diped the splitter in matte black and you have to look hard to tell its their. And if you hit anything just respray. and for the hood I just said F$&% it I can live with it. I will post a pic of the bumper in a few minuets.

You any pics of your hood? I might just respray the front for $350 n leave the hood alone no one notices other than me or someone with good eye.

In that case, find the paintless dent removal guy your dealer uses (ask a service writer or the used car manager) and take the car to him for his opinion on your hood dents.
A skilled guy can work near miracles with dents on flat surfaces and the cost is far less than a body shop would charge since no painting is required.

Okay, cool. Why not go to Mercedes' repair shop? I think this is their's? Call to be sure first: http://www.fairfieldmotorcars.com/collision-center.aspx
From what I remember, all of the other places I visited charged an arm and a leg, but if memory serves well, this place had a more reasonable price in regards to bumper repair at least.
Best of luck!
