How Wide Can I go?

I have read through the feeds on 18" vs. 19" wheels and have determined that I am going to play it safe and buy some aftermarket 18" wheels. I want to go a little wider on the front and rear tires. I am currently running stock 18s now. Can someone recommend a tire size and a good brand? I have attached a link to the wheels and the specs.

Thanks

this is what I run, I did have 275's out back but replaced with 265's as per i like the profile of the tire and gives me a little better clearance on side wall to fender

my set up:

Rims - Kleemann MS-11
Front - 19x9 ET 55, 235/25/19, 5 mill spacer
Rear - 19x10, ET 60, 265/30/19, 5 mill spacer

on Yokohamas S-Drive

NO RUBBING ! even with towing a seadoo with passengers

So If I'm running 18's, what would you recommend so I do not rub, but get the "wide stance" look?

18x9.5" wide rims go well with 275 width tires for the rear. For the front, 245 would be good for 8.5".

With 215 OR 225 for 9.5" wide rims, you are going to be STRETCHED OUT and it will not only look silly, but also won't have the wide stance look you're going after.

More info from you needed to be 100% sure you won't rub the fenders, but I'm confident that even with the AMG sports package that has lowered suspension, you will not rub.

The offsets on those wheels is pretty conservative so you should be able to run some fairly wide tires on front and rear. I personally like stretched tires so I'm running 215/40 on a 8.5 ET 35 front and a 225/40 on a 9.5 ET 35 rear.

I've noticed that most people are running the 18 with an offset around +35. Is there a benefit with running offsets like that? The offsets on the wheels I purhcased, I thought would stick out to at least flush with the wheel well..

If I was going to scrap the initial specs in this post, what would you recommend. also, if there are any pics I can see that would be greatly appreciated.

Here is what 19x8.5/9.5 ET 45 for front and rear looked with 215/35 and 235/35 tires. Just to give you an idea.

This is a 215/40 on 9.5 all around front ET 36 rear ET 24

It's all a matter of personal taste. Some like stretch and some do not. I personally hate bulging tires so I will always run stretch and yes it is safe to stretch so don't listen to the haters. A lot of drift car guys run stretch and have zero issues.

Very nice! Couple questions...

1) Why does the tire not go flush to the lip of the wheel?
2) How bad are the roads in your area? I live in DC and they are 5h!t at best with potholes, which is why i elected to stay with 18s.
3) I want my wheels to set out flush with the wheel well. With the 45f/50r offset, should I look into spacers?

I just realized something (had a newb moment)....when I say stretched, I am referring to the Stance. I want a wider stance, not so much a stretched tire/wheel. Does this make sense?

Like i said in my post, 275/40/18 or even 285/35/18 would be good for the wide stance you want on that particular rim. I'm not familiar enough with our chassis yet since I just bought this car, so others can help you out with the offset selection to give you the optimal offset for a flush look.

If anything, you can always get spacers to go more flush if the wheels you're looking for don't have the offset you want.

But a stretched out tire is NOT going to give you a wider stance.
For a wide stance, you want WIDE tires and small offset.

I've ran a 245/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear with stock height and experienced rub. But that could also be cuz I live in NYC where the roads suck!
I went to 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear and am a happy camper now.

Was it rubbing the front fenders? If so, what are your wheel specs?

I was thinking about getting 245/35/18 the next time I get tires but not sure if they'll clear the front fenders.

why did you stay with 18's? I live in the DC area and the roads are not the best either. I have 18s now and can feel the road vibration when driving. I think if I go to 19s it will be worse, BUT the profile looks so much better.

I and have decided to go with the Mandrus Wilhiem wheel....now I am battling with the 18 or 19 delima.

I stayed with the 18's cause they looked better. So I purchased a bit more narrower tires and it did the trick. I don't think it's worth the headache with the 19's in NYC with all these potholes and uneven roads around.
Now it's winter, I'm riding back on my oem 17's with winter tires. (stock look)
