LED Side Mirror Puddle Lights for Redesigned LED Mirror Housings

Just a bulb and mirror note to add to this discussion. Don't bother trying to use these "euro-flat" style 6-element bulbs like I bought from (see attached). They look like complete cr*p when installed. Tiny dispersion pattern from the bottom of the mirror that just barely showed up on the ground. Pretty color, but bad overall effect. Took it out immediately and put the old yellow bulb back.

Additionally, when I pulled the mirror face off on the passenger side of my '12 C300, the retaining mechanism looked different than ed4's, with no curved arms coming off of the mirror, just plastic clips around the perimeter of the mounting flange to the motor. (sorry, didn't think to take pics of the mirror housing). Mine also only had 2 wires connected to the mirror plate (presumably for the defroster). Didn't check the driver's side unit with the auto-dimming feature, however, so it may have more.
Regards, Ken

I currently have a C350 2012 with the lighting package, however I don't have the under lights (Canadian Car), I do have the hole under the mirror though, not sure whats back there behind the mirror.
I wonder can this mod be done on cars that currently DON'T have the light but have the hole covered under the mirror?
Thoughts?

Sup Ed! I just swapped out my bulbs also. Passenger side i took the cover housing off. Then followed your tutorial. Driver side was a little more diesel. I didnt pop out the housing but followed your tutorial. I was still able to swap them out. just an FYI, If you guys are doing this outside with daylight and pressing the unlock button doesn't activate the light, cover the light sensor behind the rear view mirror. (a towel on the windshield should be fine) then hit unlock it should light up.

you wont, u can pull with force and confidence. Follow ed4 tutorial, once u yanked the mirror, pop off two torx screws. then lift the housing a little. there are two hinges to drop the bottom piece. then pull bulb out and replace. make sure when u yank the mirror out there are two wires (passenger side) and three (Driver side)

The glass comes off in the same manner as past Audis I've owned. Here's how I did it. Forgive the iPhone pictures...
First, push in the inner, wider part of the mirror, so the outer, narrower part sticks out. Pull on the outer end firmly until the mirror pops out.

Next, take out the 3 silver-colored, outer screws that hold in the motor. Unplug the motor so it's out of your way.

Use a pry tool to carefully pop out the light housing from the retainer clips.

Carefully pull the housing off the rubber grommet. It's held on by a bit of friction and compression.

Swap Bulbs. I used this CC as my pry tool.

Test to see if it's working before you close everything back up.

Does anyone know if the removal of the 3 torx screws is absolutely necessary to remove the housing for the wedge bulb? If so, anybody know what size the torx screws are?

Hi guys, many thanks for the tutorial , really helped, tried that, but stuck on 2 problems:
1. The LED bulbs i've purchased (t10 / w5w fitting) just didn't started. On passenger side a general incandescent lamp was working, led not. So, i assume that the led bulbs shouldn't be a general ones, but must have some kind of cheating for canbus, right?
2. installed back the general bulb & hardly inserted the rubber fitting with bulb back to the case... the wire is to short to grab firmly, i'm afraid of dirt & water getting inside of the casing...what did you do?
