I completely disagree with this implication. One of the primary reasons his parents may have given him the car was for safety. They may drive one themselves and have a relationship with the dealer. They made a smart choice of which they can be proud for making a safe choice. Just from the safety concern, I'd like my kids to have had a Benz, Volvo, BMW, etc. I would not put my kid in a Civic for the same reasons. I am sure they are mostly glad he wasn't hurt and learned a lesson. Sounds like he has.

Just an update, $15,300 is the total. I believe the insurance company will be taking a look tomorrow, then it'll be getting repaired.

They actually are very happy they got me this car. Thanks for your input though.

Any specifics on the type of repair needed? Anything major? I'm sure your parents are glad that this car kept you safe.

You seem to be a very level headed and calm young man. Just apply that to your driving and you should do quite well!

P.S. Congratulations on your writing as well. Your use of proper English is a refreshing change here where some think "u" actually means "you".

Thank you. I feel terrible though, for letting something like this happen. I'm usually quite a safe driver but I just did something stupid. Thanks for being kind and not rude, unlike some people on here. I appreciate it.

@Domm I'm not sure yet. I'll try to find out and tell you. They just called and gave the estimate maybe two or three hours ago. Now we have to wait for the insurance company to check it out and see how much of it they will cover. I'll most likely be getting the car back.

Those pics don't make me feel very good about the structural integrity of those wheels. The same wheels that I have on my car, incidentally. I recently bought my C300 CPO with 26k on the odo, and had a slow air leak coming from the back drivers side that ended up being a cracked wheel. (I noticed it was low on the drive home from purchase, don't know how it happened.) The dealership replaced the wheel for me no charge, but now I wonder just how easy it is to crack or break them. How fast were you going when you hit the curb?

I'd say 45ish. It does make you question them doesn't it?
