Winter tire size question...2009 C300 staggered tires.

Hi Everyone. Been reading for some time on the forum but just joined so I could ask my first question.

I have a 2009 C300 Sport that has the stock MB wheels and seems to be staggered. Front wheels 225 / 45 / 17 and Rear wheels 245 / 40 / 17.

I am looking for winter tires, found 2 sets of 4 of slightly used Nokians. All same size.
* first one Nokian Hakkapeliitta 225/45/17 for $250
* 2nd set Nokian Hakkapeliitta 225/45/17 for $350 but will throw in the wheels for an additional $150. The wheels are OEM stock from a 2010 Jaguar X type. He is not sure if they have TPMs, he wasn't sure what I was talking about. The bolt pattern is 5 x 4.25".

I'm not knowledgable enough to know if they will work or not.
1) will the 225 45 17 fit my current wheels?
2) would the 2nd set with wheels fit my MB despite the bolt pattern not matching up perfectly?
3) what's the chance they have TPMs, and if they do would they be compatible on my car?
4) Our 2nd car is a 2012 C250 with 18" AMG, I would think that if the 2009 is not an option is it possible the 2012 would be? My thinking would be no...unless someone corrects me.

Thoughts? Concerns? All responses would be appreciated. TIA.

JC

WELCOME TO THE FORUM !!!

Thoughts:

1) This will help determine your real needs:

______________ *** All Members, New and some Old *** _______________

please click on User CP at the top left of page, just below the thread title. Then add the following to either Profile and/or Signature , selecting buttons on the left side of that page:

year, model, if it's a diesel, Sport or Lux, 4MATIC or RWD, Location (city & state), and non-US country if applicable.

This helps others respond to issues, like tires, spring options, part sales, etc. Thanx

2) Look for a used set of non-staggered "lux model" wheels (same size as your '09 front wheels) and fit snows to them.

3) same thing for C250, but verify the front wheels are the same size and offset as your '09

4) search more for any new questions.

2009 C300 4matic Sport
Hi JC,

I own a 2009 C300 Sport 4mati and the car has 225/45/17 Nokian Hakkapeliitta at all 4 corners using the stock wheels. The size was confirmed to be ok with no issues from both my MB service adviser and the authorized Nokian tire dealer where i eventually bought it from.

Thanks for the info. It seems like I can go straight with the 4 225/45/17s and that's really good to hear.

I started looking at CL for just set of OEM MB Rims and didn't realize how many options I had. I saw some nice 17" and 16" and 18" options, not sure if they are staggered.

I was looking at this set for 16" rims and they come with blizzaks!

Those are huge tires off a big old MB sedan. You must verify they are off a W204 series Mercedes. Go with the correct size tires you mentioned, and 4 wheels from the luxury model, that are all the same size. Since you are buying them, might as well get all the same size for best rotation and wear management.
