Dealer Fees on Used Car What reasonable

Well... When ever I'm shopping for a car, I always make an out the door offer so that the manager can then calculate his dealer fees, taxes and what nots in there himself to come to a mutually acceptable number. If that includes 500 bucks of fees, I don't care. As long as I am paying what I want to pay total out the door.

I say $0. Whatever happened to cost of doing business? If a dealer wants to advertise the sale price of a car at one dollar amount but add some crap fee when you're at the negotiation table I say

In my endeavor to buy my MB I had a dealer try to hit me with a $1,395 "dealer prep fee". I walked straight out.
As mentioned above it doesn't matter what the fee is as long as the total sale price of the car is what you're willing to pay. Hell, the car could be $500 + a $29,500 fee for all I care if I'm willing to pay $30k. Catch my drift?
