2013 C300 4matic New Owner! MPG?
Hey everyone. I just bought a new Steel Gray C300 4matic Sport over the weekend and am new to the MB family. I'm loving it so far - drives like a dream!
I'm curious what other owners have been seeing as far as fuel economy while driving in the city. I switched from an '05 Infiniti G35x that was a gas hog. Hoping this is better. I know MB says 20 mpg in the city - just wondering if that's accurate.
Thanks!

New 2013 C300 owner here in Steel Grey as well. Have about 1100 miles on the car so far and I must say, the gas mileage is a bit worse than I expected. Live in New England so weather def a factor. So far on the longest trip (300 mi) of mostly highway driving (Avg 70 MPH), I average about 24.5 mpg. In city driving, I am frequently around the 14-15mpg mark (in significant stop/go). Lets hope this improves!

I have a 2011 C300 4-Matic with the old 3.0L engine and get 19 MPG in mixed driving in the suburbs. Lots of 4-10 mile trips. On the highway I can get 27 MPG if I am driving 75+. In staying at 70 normally 28 -29 MPG.
Remember the fuel is oxygenated because of winter and mileage drops by 1-3MPG. When the normal fuel is available again you might see an improvement. My 2012 C350 Coupe with the direct injection engine has averaged 25MPG over 17K miles and gets 22 around town and 28-31 on the highway depending upon how fast I drive.

Nice ride. Love the color.
I can't help but wonder when I read these threads, I get 16-17 in Chicago burb driving and i can get 28 on a long enough highway drive on s550. I can't understand why you guys get such low mileage.

All "city driving" is very different for each car, each area, and each driver. The "rated" value for the US and mabe other countries is based on the government protocol, as determined on a dyno. Average speed is 21 mph city, and 48 mph highway.
fueleconomy gov't schedules
Now based on this gov't test, the C250 and C350 both get about the same ratings, and anyone who drives exactly like that should get those numbers. The idea is to try to have these tests as a basis of comparison.
The new C300 has these things going for it, regarding new mpg's:
1) DI engine
2) lower axle final drive ratio ( 2.82 new vs 3.27 old) Verify ?
It's goin to take some time to get more observed mpg's.

I'm pretty sure your engine will be different but for my 2008 C300 4matic, I pushed it to 7.8 l / 100 km which translates to 30.15 mpg.
You have to drive EXTREMELY ideally with most of it on the highway. I don't think I'd be able to push it lower...

Here is a really good site to see REAL WORLD mileage figures and it also provides stats with percentages of city to highway usage.
Just click on the "Browse Vehicles" link on the left menu bar and then search for the make and it shows the stats by year...etc.

I got a white one almost 2 months ago, i live in california, but already made 4 trips to Vegas with that car. it takes about slightly under half tank of gas for 300 miles. Anyway, that car has been my daily since it came out the lot, i hate to but have to say city driving with that car ain't good on MPG, but you get about around 31 or 32 mpg on the highway with smooth traffic by doing 70 mph.

Thank you... and I use that site to track my mileage on my Toyota 4Runner.
I was suppose to pick up my wifes new 2013 C350 Sedan today, which was being shipped in yesterday... unfortunately it did not arrive due to poor weather. Hope to have it in the next few day though.

To update my prior numbers...
Car now has 2500 miles. Recently went on a 400 mile road trip and averaged 29MPG. My city driving is usually short bursts of 2 miles at a time with heavy stop/go so I rarely see the MPGs go above 13-14 (esp when car is cold). Suburban driving I get closer to that 20-22 number. Overall, the numbers appear to be improving with increasing mileage and warmer weather.
PS: I mostly drive in E mode with occasional guilty pleasure of S mixed in

I'm getting 24 to 25 mpg overall in day-to-day mixed driving with little stop-and -go city driving and an average trip of 20 miles. I don't use the stop/start function only because it seems to me that there is potential for accelerated wear on the starter motor -- but I may be wrong here. Anyway, for those getting only 15-16 mpg city, are you using stop/start? Just curious.

2014 Mercedes C300 Sport 4matic purchased 2 months ago with 20k miles on it.
I live in New England and my daily commute is 3 miles one way with frequent stop and go averaging at around 20-25 mph driving in Eco mode with "Start & Stop " On. I have been getting around 14-15 mpg. Is this normal.
I had one trip on highway 50 miles distance driving at 75 -80 mph and got 25.5 mpg.
The car is still under warranty tis Jan 2018. Is the Gas mileage normal or do i Need to get something checked.
Other than the gas mileage I am loving the ride.

MPG is very dependent upon average speed and use of the accelerator. Also, winter fuel will reduce mileage slightly.
My experience here in NC averaging 30 miles per hour around town is 20-21 mpg. On the highway at 70-75 but no serious hills I get 28-30 mpg.
Not sure if a lot of stop and go with only 15-20 miles per hour average would be much lower. My assumption is yes, the engine is running the same amount of time as mine but your denominator (miles traveled) is much less. This could kill your average mpg.
