Pic request- side marker lit up (painted)
Hey guys I'm thinking of changing out my side marker lens from clear depo to color matched ones. I'm concerned about them looking bad lit up at night, also concerned that they will barely be visible with my car being black. Anyone that has the painted ones, could you post a pic of them lit up? During the day or night.
If I just put the side markers in and removed the bulbs, would I get an error message?

That's a good idea. Did u zip tie them to something? I'm thinking of getting high temp electrical tape and just tieing them up away from the actual lights so they aren't visible.

Below are some pictures of my PLASTIDIP covered markers. I know it's not "real" paint but hopefully this helps a little bit to show the basic idea. As you can see, mine still show clearly with a frosted look since I didn't do anything with the bulb. But personally I like the idea that the functionality is still their at night but "gone" during the day or when their off.

Just to give everyone an idea I just ordered parts for this. You can make your own color matched side markers for about $28. Automotivetouchup will sell you a 12oz aerosol can of your exact color for $20 plus shipping. You can then paint your amber markers or what I did is ordered a set of clears and will have those sprayed by myself. There was only one company that I've found that sells the color matched side markers and they were asking something ridiculous, like $150 for the set.
A pair of clears with a can of base coat and a can of clear coat, plus shipping came out to $68 for me, less than half of what they cost to buy. I'll make a DIY when I get the parts too.

Like Matt was saying, I plasti-dipped mine also. No light shines through at all (although I did put a couple coats over it) so it looks like I don't have side markers at all. It's been over a year and still looks the same. Hope this helps!
