It sounds exactly the same and I have one to sell. Both ru5111 attach with bms adapter as I prefer no sound personally.

Anyway, this setup would rub for sure.

Looks good!

Broken record here ... that's exactly why the Dwyer pressure drop gauge would be extremely handy. You could tell (w/o dyno) if any filter is choking airflow. You can also check adequacy of TB size, and overall intake stream.

If you get on K&N chat, they will get the flow rates, based on a standard small pressure drop.

Also, rather than a top cover for your custom filter, consider using the underside of the hood to make a cold air flow channel to the front.

My bad, I mean with RU-5111, it won't rub for sure. Plenty of space between.

If that is just a foam filter, I would be careful about using those. I hear the filtering is not that great. But then again K&N is not that great at filtering too.

If you need a replacement, BMS sells them. Otherwise you should swap to a smaller one that we mentioned in the thread.

I put this type of intake on my bmw 335i before and had heat soak like crazy. It's not like with the c250?

It is with ours also, that's why I swapped back to OEM with a K&N panel filter and covered the box with DEI heat reflective tape. I keep the cone filter around for cooler weather or days when I wanna be obnoxious.

Do you really notice any difference with the panel filter? I've put them in cars in the past and didn't really notice any difference except I paid more for an air filter. I feel like the airbox in the c250 is just dieing for something aftermarket though. The air movement doesn't seem fluid.

Truthfully, most high flow filters panel or cone I feel are more used up top in the higher rpm's rather than down low. The cone filter will be worse because it sits right next to the engine on our cars and is exposed to a great deal of hot air. I watched a video on YouTube when They dispelled gains through a cone filter vs panel filter.

Though it can't be taken as a sole concrete evidence, the more I thought about it and looked at the engine bay, the more it made sense. Their conclusion was the cone lost power over the panel, a high flow panel lost over a stock panel but still made more than a cone. I opted to lose a bit and run a high flow panel and I applied heat reflective take to my airbox to try and minimize the heat effect.

Sounds good. I haven't found a good aftermarket with German as it is with American cars. Volant makes awesome intake boxes but you cant get a German solution.
And btw, go knights!

Hi guys,

Just as an update there are several hundred of the standard larger filter out without issue. But, if any of you want to use the smaller RU-5111 filter we can also supply those with the intake for the same price. Just email us when ordering.
