Didn’t I read on this very site on another thread about retro fitting ‘face lift’ steering wheels to pre face lift models. The claim was that there was an issue with the buttons on the steering wheel not illuminating and that to get them to light up you would have to change out the steering column, or has this been resolved??
I too wish to update to the ‘face lift’ wheel but have reservations given the lighting issue.

Lighting issue
Anyone have a definitive answer on getting the button lights working when retrofitting the later model steering wheel. I have read replace the steering column is needed but also some say it is possible to reflash the computer to get the lights working. does the new column have a different wiring harness is that why? but it still plugs into the same contact plate? very confused here.
