Streaming music help please...

I'm trying to stream Spotify through my car audio system. My issue is my system is not recognizing my iPhone 5. Please let me explain:

Since the connecting cable in the glove box was designed for the iPhone 4, I bought the converting cable for the 5. When I connect the iPhone, it immediately starts charging but it just will not show up on my audio system. I should say here, that the cable I bought was a $3 from eBay and from china, way back when the 5 came out.

Does anybody here have any experience with this issue? Would a true Apple converting cable be the solution? Or is it just not going to work?
BTW, I have zero problems with any of the other iPhone 5 functions

Any feedback is appreciate it.

I heard those convertors only charge the phone. Someone on here had the same problem. They bought a OEM convertor from Apple and it worked flawlessly.

Thank you. I just couldn't find anything when I searched the forum. I think I'll try the real one. The only reason I bought the one I have was because the Apple one was not available...yet.

Thanks again.

Check out something called "Kivic One" It's in beta test now and I'm one of the testers. But this will help streamline any wireless music in your car once its out.

Update..

I bought an Apple converter and it works fine now. I can listen to Soptify or anything else for that matter, on my car system. However, I do not have the song or artist information on the screen. And maybe that's just the best it's gonna get.

Thanks for the help, everybody.
