I have K&N and love them. With cone filters you'd be sucking in hot engine bay air so I say no go on them. Just my opinion.

Cone filters will suck in hot air at low speeds but at higher speeds like on the highway that's where you'll get more out of them.

Someone also recommended BMC drop in filters. Supposedly what the DTM cars use.

It's alot about pressure drop impeding flow, as I have discussed. The good cone designs seal around the filter, use the hood as the top, and have a cold air supply:



Note that you could monitor the Intake air temps, by the sensor plug, or by simply using an indoor-outdoor thermometer.
