Intermittent "Check rear right turn signal" error

I've been getting an intermittent error message since last week

"Check rear right turn signal"

I have an '09 P2 package with the LED turn signal. I checked and everything is working fine.

What else should I check? could this be related to a fuse or the well-known melting harness connector which is having intermittent contact issues? I did apply the 2nd ground fix about 2 months ago but I didn't change the original connector harness.

when I read this the first thing that came to mind was the melting-harness-syndrome... As you indicated in the OP

Yeah that's how mine started. Just got the dealer to fix mine free of charge 2 days ago.

If you don't take it to the dealership- make sure the brown ground wire on the end of the harness is pressed in securely. Be gentle but push it and see if it moves. If the harness is already melted- it should be replaced along with the bulb carrier.

Thanks will do. I'm debating or not to have it done at the dealer or simply try and clean/check the connectors myself and ensuring the contacts are ok. I called my local stealership and they won't do it for free so I'm ticked about this. I may simply attempt to fix this myself before I bend over backwards and fork up more cash...

Don't take "No" for an answer. Speak to the Service Manager and if that doesn't work ask to speak to the General Manager. If that doesn't work- contact MB Corporate and start a case. Make sure you emphasize it is a SAFETY issue since it pertains to your Brakelights. Eventually- this will lead to failure and can result in a rear-end collision. Mention they will be held liable. Print out the copy of my receipt if you want to. My car was WAY out of warranty.
