Cabin air filter
Hey everyone,
Did anyone replace the cabin air filter on a 2012 C250? Rock auto is showing pictures of two different shaped filters. I'm not sure which is the right one.
Thank you for the help. Would appreciate part numbers and online stores if you have them.

At the dealer it does. But I purchased a MANN Filter (same as OEM Mercedes) for $25. I am getting it this Tuesday and will let you know how well it fits. The Mercedes OEM Number was an exact match.

It has 2 kind of filter
Filter with charcoal , you can buy MANN filter for OEM cost around $25
Normal filter (no charcoal), it has many OEM seller, cost around $12
The different is charcoal type can absorb all smell while no charcoal type can filter dust only.

I finished the replacement using the MANN CUK 2551 which is a match for the MB OEM 212 830 00 18.
Everything was fine except it is a bit "fiddly" putting the plastic cover under the glove box back in as well as the three screws. In order to get the right leverage I ended up laying on the seat upside down with my feet in the back seat! Not something an old man is supposed to be doing! But I paid $25 vs $100-125 for the part and installation at the dealer.

I wanted to replace it after 1 year (~9500mi) like the manual said because I live in a dusty area. However, when I actually did the replacement I found that the old filter looked pretty clean. I'll will wait 2 years for the next one.

I think an interval is 2 year will perfectly for cabin air filter. The lowest I found is $18

I recommend that you change your cabin filter every year or 2. When I acquired my pre-owned c300 a few months ago, I had a god-awful smell coming from the vent shafts everytime I turned on the AC. It was disgusting. Even my local indie shop couldn't believe it how bad it was.
Even though I noticed that the existing cabin filter didn't seem dirty at all, I went ahead and replaced the filter anyway. Low and behold no more bad smells coming from the AC and everything now smells fresh
So beware when you think the cabin filter looks clean. Its what we can't see with our own eyes that may be doing the damage.
