Hardwired into the headlight switch and ran the wire up the A-piller then behind the roof panel at the windshield. V1 hangs on the visor and doesn't interfere with anything.

I did the same thing as Louz but I placed it on the passengers side visor so it wont interfere with the drivers one. If you know your V1 really good you wont even have to look at it, because the K and Ka signals beep at a different tone so you just have to slow down

Btw louz to what cable did you cramped the fitting inside the lamp housing,

Sorry for the crap iPhone photo

V1 Radar Detector with Radar Active.
Uniden BCT-12 Analog Scanner with separate antenna.
Uniden BCD396XT Digital Scanner with separate antenna and GPS.
Veil Anti Laser Stealth Coating on headlights and Licence Plate.

Looking locally for a shop to integrate my digital scanner in with my dash, just need to find the time to do so. Anyway, this is what I roll with, Enjoy!

I ran the wire straight through the headliner into the overhead lamp area and connected it there. Didn't go through the A pillar at all. Very easy to do with no damage, just need a thin, strong wire to attached the cable to and push through. A straightened out a sturdy wire hanger and used that, taped the head to it and straight through. Very easy and its the most direct way.

Also, it doesn't interfere with the visor or anything. There is a full writeup somewhere.....

EDIT: This is the thread with pics that I used. Everything works perfectly.

That Ix will interfere with the performance of the V1 and vice versa. Never a good idea to run two superhets in the cabin. You'd be better off just running the V1 and getting a Speed Cheetah C50 for the Red light Cams etc.

Plus, the V1 is quickly becoming OLD technology and there's units out there that have better range (the RL BSRDR) and are much quicker (Passport MAX).

Veil dont work much anymore either since the newer guns like the TSs are cutting right through those countermeasures.

Here in California were the state is practically bankrupt, CHP and Police are not getting new LIDAR guns anytime soon and won't for a long time, if your state is getting new stuff then yes VEIL is not for you. It's $80 well spent for me. Saved my but in SoCal on 2 separate occasions.

Yeah I've noticed the ix and v1 going at it at times. Passport sure do have nice radars my favorite one would have to be the revised x50s I really can care less for gps and voice functions.

I'm starting to notice that v1 doesn't update their radar but they do update their modems which stays with the escort radars or not dominates it at times. Thanks for your tips though

You're welcome!! The V1 was the standard for many years and in some minds, it still is.(they are however completely wrong and behind the times). Problem is, there's faster/quicker OUT there now than what Mike V has offered for two decades. Recent tests show that a Band Segged/ RDR Off Redline smokes the V1C and the new Passport Max is the quickest detector ever made (for those IO or QT shots you may face). Its your choice BUT if I were looking for countermeasures I'd certainly take a LOOK at units other than V1.

Saw this on another forum and thought I'd share. Simple $0.97 upgrade to the V1 from Harbor Freight. I know I'm always getting outta the car to see if mine's level and straight, now I don't (as long as I feel I'm somewhat on a level surface. Peep Game!

Not me. I use to use a V1 until it my car was broken into and was stolen. I'm now scarred for life and swore I wouldn't hard wire a detector that was easily identifiable with thieves.

Here's my setup...

After years with a suction cup, I've finally gave up on it. So now I use the visor for a more stealth install.

A detector, window tint, and sans front plate is a defacto standard for my family. Heck, even my wife's hybrid complies...

Yea I'm trying to find one that's not seen by outsiders either since I park in the streets, never had a detector before.

This is one of the advantages to a visor mount. In that anyone looking at it would not be able to easily determine the make/model of the detector since the top portion is completely covered (V1's don't apply obviously). With tints, you wouldn't even know a detector is there (if looking from the sides or rear). Below is the best picture I can come up with that shows a detector is even present, however if you look at it from any other angle, the black color just fades into the headliner.

I'll make a case for the V1 which I have used with zero regrets for several years, and through a full "guts" update service they offer. I don't have the expertise to get into detailed electronics comparisons, although I imagine that all of the buff book tests are subject to test condition variance.

My larger point is based on the existence of two processors....the one in the detector and the one between our ears. There are different ideal behaviors in a radar situation, depending on the location and number of sources. Even if another brand offers a few milliseconds, or even a second of improvement (not agreeing that they really do....a hypothetical), the information presented by the V1 saves on our less efficient human processing time to decide the right course. For example, I would not want to slam on brakes and light up brake lights for a rear source, a sure giveaway and open request for a roadside meeting, when that same behavior might be ideal for a front source, etc. When someone else comes up with a directional indicator and number of sources, I might go shopping, but for now, I'm still with V1.

Here are a couple of shots of my Passport Solo and Escort's new "Sticky Cup" No wires, of course. I remove the Solo and put it in the driver door when parked away from home. Only takes a second. I don't think it is highly obvious from outside the car due to the mirror and tint, but I guess thieves know what they're looking for. In this location I can reach it to turn it off, mute it, remove it etc. with no difficulty. Also it has a good line of sight out the rear window if Smoky is behind.
