2009 vs. 2011
Hey everyone-
I did some forum searching beforehand, but I couldn't find answers to 2 very specific questions. I'm thinking of trading my 2009 C300 for a 2011 C300 that has a lot more features and less miles, and before I start dealing with their internet department I want to have my facts straight. Here are my 2 questions:
1) For the 2011 C300 multimedia package option, does it necessarily include the Logic 7 HK system? I currently have it in my 2009 and don't want to lose that feature.
2) Does the iPod/media interface cable still only work through the driver's screen in the 2011 model, or can you select songs through the head unit?

Attached is an enlargement of the Multimedia package description which begins calling the HK Logic 7 system the first option, with the MM system an additional option. Also confirms that the iPod integration is included, through the 7" screen and controlled by the center console knob.
Second image is the 2-page 12-13 spread from the 2011 MB C Class catalog describing the systems and options.

Thanks guys. It looks like the vehicle I've been looking at doesn't have HK; you saved me from a very bad move!

Sorry for the mis-information. You just HAVE to get the H-K system, worth the price of admission.
An advantage of the iPod through the Command screen vs. the speedo is that the passenger can select the tunes, a huge advantage IMO.

Interesting. My father has a 2009 C300 w/MM so he has the HK7 system. My 2011 has the base system. While I find the power and quality of the HK7 to be stunning, I would not consider it an absolute deal-breaker. Especially depending on what type of media you use. To really appreciate the HK7 system, you need 5.1 DVD-A. It's amazing. Hooking up an iPod and playing MP3s through the HK7 system is like drinking fine wine from a mason jar.

One should always use Apple Lossless encoding whenever possible, 9000 tunes fit on a 160GB iPod Classic. Not suitable for cell phones though, one can always convert Apple Lossless to MP3's on the fly.
