has grill fittings changed for 2013?

Hey guys

I just got a 2013 C300 4MATIC Sport sedan

I want to change the grill to this one:

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=290711023847

most ebay ads say "Fits 2008 to 2012"
Im hoping that is not the case.

Will this grill fit my car?

Also, if anyone has pics of this grill installed, id love to see them.

Thanks.

I believe 08-11 is one fitment, 12-13 is another. On more than one occasion I saw a 08-11 grill being applied on the newer models and the fitment is not good.

Your beliefs are wrong.

There is a reason ebay advertisers often separate 08-11 and 12-13.

I have also bought a 08-11 AMG-style grill which fits very well on 08-11 model but does not have good fitment on my 13.

Ok, so you are basing your arguments on ebay sellers, that makes perfect sense

I have fitted hundreds of grills on 204.s over the years and please trust me, they are all the same.
The grills also have the same part numbers, is that a conspiracy made by ebay sellers perhaps?

I have a sport grill from 2008 and one off my 2013 same part number so the fitment is the same. Also the Brabus style grill I used on my 2008 and 2011 is now on my 2013 fit is exactly the same.

Why are there several people on this forum who bought AMG-style grill for their 2013 model and the fitment is poor. It has been documented on this forum. I am not sure if the same "fitment conclusions" were for 2008-2011 model. I have personally installed a 2008 style grill car and the fitment was poor (the gap around the grill was not uniform). This was consistent with other members' results. However, maybe it was because it was an ebay grill rather than an OEM one.

And what does the same part number have to do with it? They are physically different grills between a 2008 and 2013 model. Do you think someone at Mercedes says "I want to order a new front grill for C-class" without specifying the year? The hatch pattern alone is different.

Although comment was more on AMG-style grills, not sure what the hatch pattern looks like on 2008-2011 model sport grills.

If you search long enough, you'll see a lot of year brackets: "This grill fits"....'08-'12, '08-'11, '08-'13, '12-'13, and so on.

I think this is referring more to the amg type grill, which has a chrome surround, (or any grill that has a complete surround/framing of some sort) where the top portion of the grill should theoretically run flush with the curvature of the hood, where the two meet.

The problem with aftermarket grills sometimes is that they aren't made exactly to MB standards...so sometimes a perfect fit doesn't happen, and people start complaining about there beings 'gaps' in the grill. And then.... a seller will get a batch that is "guranteed to fit" with no gaps on a 2012-2013!

In reality, they just got lucky with this batch, and also, this "magic batch" might even be a perfect fit for 2011 and below.

The OEM grill (non amg) on the other hand doesn't have a frame on the top portion, so it's easier to get a solid looking fit on the OEM styles vs the framed styles. The only true difference in any MB grill, from what I understand, is that a true AMG grill has a physically different shape due to the hood design of the car itself, plus it's grill is framed..so two potential rooms for error on trying to fit on non amg cars.

Aftermarket grill makers are having to find the right combination of measurements fom a framed grill to fit on a non amg car, which doesn't happen naturally in nature.lol

Long story short..if you're looking into a "non framed" grill, chances are it will fit pretty much perfectly. I just bought an oem stlye sport gill with painted black slats. It fit perfectly, and interestingly enough was listed to fit 08-12, and I have a 2013. Just be careful if buying a framed amg style aftermarket grill. The year brackets are probably a little more important in this category.

I think the problem I had was more with a particular ebay grill rather than overall fitment in general.

The other thing to watch for is the hatch pattern between cars (now they are cross-hatched).

Part numbers have everything to do with it, MB doesn´t change anything on their parts without changing the part number, and a sport grill ripped from a MY 13 has the exact same number AND fitment as a grill from a 08 model.

What you have encountered my firend is a **** poor made, non OE grill from China, nothing more, nothing less.

I appreciate all the input guys.

I went ahead and bought this grill, I really like the different backing behind the 2-fin design.

If the fit is no good, they're return policy seems legit and id get a refund.

ill be sure to post pics when I install it.
