Follow up to water leak. Removing front carpet
After the write up I did about cleaning out the sunroof drains I was contacted about removing the front carpets to get the remaining standing water out of the floor space in front of the front seats. Here's a walkthrouth for removing the carpets.......
Remove floor mats and back up both seats and put them all the way up for clearance.
Passenger side.
1. Remove door sill. Pull it straight up.
2. Peel back door molding. (yeah this pic is out of sequence but you get the idea)
3. Remove these clips with needle nose pliers and remove kick panel.
4. Next peel out the carpet from under the center console. It's tucked in pretty good. It's easier to start here between the center console and the seat.
5. Fold down front flap.
6.Now pull the whole carpet/foam piece straight up. It's form fitted so it'll need a little working out especially if it's full of water.
Here's the bottom side.
7. Using a Wet/Dry vac remove the standing water from the floor pan. Look how much water I had two days after the heavy rains.
Set it aside and move to the drivers side.
Repeat steps 1-4
5. Remove the two nuts on the left side of the accelerator pedal. They're 10mm sockets. Unplug the accelerator assembly carefully and set aside.
Then do steps 6 & 7.
Here's the driver's side.
Now I suggest using the Wet/Dry vac to suck out the water while squeezing as much as possible from the foam parts and leave them outside to dry.
Once dry reassembly is pretty simple.
Good Luck!!!!

Great job That's what the forum is all about.
To the OP, thank you for your contribution to the MB community.
Guess I have to monitor the weather forecast and remember to test that drainage before the rain

You don't think your carpet need some cleaning because i find some stain spots on it. If you need carpet cleaners than i will suggest you best one which also provide commercial carpet cleaning services. They come to your place in just one call and make you satisfied with their services.

2008 Mercedes C300 4matic Sport
Hey guys!
I recently experienced the same thing. Water got into my front passenger and back. Im going to remove the carpet tomorrow morning; however, I am not sure how long the water was there... I don't use my car often. Its a Mercedes C300 2008 4matic Sport. I just want to know what damages the water can cause now that it was inside under the carpet and the price to fix the damages. I removed the water but it still seems a little wet the next day. So I plan on removing the carpet from the front. Is it possible to remove the back carpet as well?
Thank you guys!

Shouldnt be wet once you remove the water. You need to remove the whole carpets and make sure the foam is completely dry. For the interior, if possible, let it sit 24 hours in a garage with the doors open and fan blowing in the interior. You need the weather tech mats at a minimum with these cars if you have winter where you live. I find it to be a very bad spot for all those modules and wiring but all you can do is protect it.I took out my carpet for cleaning and they were a little damp after winter because I didn't use the weather tech mats in the beginning. After removing the carpet I put dielectric grease on the backs of connectors I could see and then wrapped it in plastic.
I've seen w204s with universal mat that fit poorly and the water can get to the carpet, resulting in a nightmare of electrical issues. Once he had the replace the whole SAM box next to the fuse box and most of the modules under the carpet which had been covered in water after a big snow storm and short circuited a lot of stuff, he had a heater in the interior for a few days and let it sit before starting anything.

If I pull the door sills straight up, is there a risk of breaking a clip?

One thing I can add to this thread is that if you had water in your car (specially W204) the CAN connector blocks will get wet. Now you won't have issues right away but once the corrosion starts to set you will end up with a whole bunch of CAN communication problems. If you have the carpets out they are easy to replace and the price per block is not that bad.

hey bro, i faced the same problem with my c350 2008. I found water on the passenger’s footwell and at the back ( passenger’s side also). I removed the seat and the carpet dried every thing. Then 2 days after found water again. Did you find what was the reason ? Is it a water tube or leak from the vent in front. Please if anyone can help where should i look.

It seems that one of your rain drain holes may be clogged (specifically the one on the passenger side, up against the firewall). This video has a quick explanation of what/where to check:

do you need to remove carpet if it's dried already?
I noticed that I had water in the rear driver side footwell and after reading about clogged sunroof drains, had them cleaned out and haven't had any more water. My question is..... the carpet has dried and I'm wondering if I need to have the carpets removed and the wired checked out? I haven't had any electrical issues but the MB dealership said it will cost $1,300 to take the carpets out, treat them, make sure the wires are dry and replace everything. Not sure if it's needed or worth it.... thoughts? Thanks!

Thanks for the nice illustrations and step-by-step ... I took up my carpets to put Dynamat on the bare floor metal ... a nice reduction in road noise even if you don't have any water problems.
Next project is to take out the seats to do the big piece under the seats and rear floorboard. Assume/hope the carpet tucks under the edge of the console all around so the console doesn't have to come out!

Passenger side of '09 C350 was flooded. Didn't see any telltale signs as to where the water got in from. Cleaned all drain holes. The one in the center is the prime suspect. I have removed the passenger rear carpet hafl-way. Can I use this occasion to connect a rear view camera? Which would you recommend?

I need a link and part number for the can connector blocks. I cleaned and dried them the first time and everything worked fine but it happened again and this time after drying when I connect the battery only the park lights and radio will come on. Will not turn over or anything. I want to replace the connector blocks and the other connector s located in that area sure to the corrosion but can not find the parts anywhere

Did you ever get a link or part information. I have the same problem, corroded electrical connections so I need to replace them. Would really appreciate of someone could share a link to the parts.
