Porsche & BMW fanatic- got a C 250 as rental- VERY IMPRESSED!
My first post...so hello...
I have always had BMW for Sedan & Porsche 911 for my sports car...last january i figured no need for 2 cars so sold my 7-Series...
FFW to last Friday, i pretty much totaled my 911 S Launch Edition with tons of upgrades & options including Ceramic Brakes, exhaust, & much more....
My insurance arranged a rental for me, i went to pickup the rental at the Enterprise place inside Schumacher Mercedes here in Scottsdale, AZ...When the Rental guy found out i had a 911 he gave me a C250...i laughed but said oh well, at least its not the Hyundai...
So now i've had this C250 2013 for a week & i must say i'm SUPER IMPRESSED....
I had decided once insurance pays me that i'd go get a 2011 535i M package but now thinking about saving money and getting a 2012 C250....
I NEVER EVER thought the C250 could be so responsive & also i LOVE THAT NEW INTERIOR....
THE BAD:
Hate the basic headlights & its SO HARD to find ones with XENON (heard its cuz of the Tsunami in Japan at the time)
Its hard to find a nicely optioned one so far for the price i want but i'm looking...
again i can't believe how much i like this car, if anything and i wanted to save $$ i thought ok, a 335i even...but after driving the C i'm gonna go with the Mercedes i think, specially cuz that interior with the Brushed Aluminum all over & that sport steering wheel!!
pic of my 911 S before she was wrecked
- ps: this car was just a Stock 2005 911 Carrera S Launch Edition with 18k miles when i got it last year.

Its seems impossible to find one, specially that i'll only take 2012 black or silver with black leather interior & Brushed Aluminum Trim..i'm also trying to stay under $28k as this is gonna be a "saving money" buy not ideally the car i'd want..

Again, the options you can get in the USA for the price point are 10 times what you can get in Canada...! lol. Looking back I would have bought a BMW 328i x drive. It's a better drive in my opinion and a similar priced car. The MB's look more bad *** and that's why I got it and I do enjoy it. It's always easy to go back and say I should have got this. If I could have afforded a C350 or C63 I would have gone that route. But up here for the same year as my car a C63 is double and heavier on fuel.

I'm 41 and NOT going through a mid-life crisis. I love the interior on my 2013 C250 Coupe w/Sport PLUS package. If you like the handling of the C250 Sedan you would definitely like the Coupe. But if you still want a Sedan- they do come with the Sport PLUS package too.

Sounds like you're used to some high performing cars. Might I suggest a C350? It get's you 300+ hp and some additional torque. I just got a 2013 C350 with 5800 miles certified with HID's, MB navigation, AND the 7 spoke AMG wheels for $34k.

I sold my '06 911 (997.1) for a 2013 C250 and I think it's great. Not amazing, but overall it's a very nice car - especially since I paid $35K for it out the door! Generally the cheapest, least-optioned cars like this are garbage (perfect for rentals) but not so in this case.
Prior to the 911 I had a 2000 5-series, which was almost exactly the same dimensions and weight of the C250 - and the 4 cylinder with DFI and turbo drives just like a 6 to me.
I have some odd front end noises I'm trying to figure out before I take it back to the dealer, but that's the only defect I've found so far.

I have no idea how I pulled it off. I bought it from the Mercedes dealer in Huntsville, AL (great to work with). I live in the Nashville area but it's only about 1.5 hours to drive down there so I called about the car. They originally had it listed at $36,900 but they were considering certifying it and bumping the price to $38,900. I told them what I'd give for it and that I wanted it certified and they did it! I was worried it was a salvaged title or something to be honest. Carfax checked out perfect. Apparently the guy decided it wasn't big enough so he traded it back in to them and get an E class. The only thing I can figure is that they raped the guy on the trade.

C300 Sport/Palladium Silver on Black/P2
Congratulations! What configuration did you end up finding?
Honestly, for the money, C Class are a great deal. Mercedes puts so much money and R&D into the cars, that it truly shows. There are many cars with same MSRP as a C Class that simply do not feel like it, plus the cars seems to hold up decent.
Now, I think your 911 was pretty awesome, but the C250 will no doubt provide you a solid drive as long as you need it. Enjoy it! Honestly, I still enjoy my 2008 C300 especially since I recently got a new cheap daily driver, the quality of the C Class stands out more than ever to me.

.....realizing this thread is over a year old.......................
I'd sure like to hear any positives about the C250 1.8 4 cylinder from a reliability (lack of repair) standpoint.
CU gives the 2012 (which I bought CPO) all red dots; other input appreciated.
TIA, ez................

Buying a C250?
From reading your posts would recommend that you also try the C350. Great upgrade w/302hp. Traded my 2013 C250 COUPE for a 2014 C350 Coupe with Xenon's. As I like a sporty ride this was well worth the difference. Always lots of "right now power". Bought mine, a CPO car 6 mos old and 6300 mi. 4 1/2 year warranty & UNLIMITED mileage. Not a big diff in gas mileage. C350's are not easy to find.
