OEM rear view camera
I actually ordered this set when I got my car almost a year ago, but now I have decided to finally install it.
Here´s the kit:
Included is, chrome trim, camera unit, voltage regulator, camera wiring and HU wiring.
how to screenshot on windows 7
This kit is IMO worth every penny as it only cost around $250 for OE parts. When buying the camera alone it cost over 400
My kit is for the Estate model but is available for the Sedan as well: part number A2049055303 from MY11

Of course you could always find cheaper parts, but these are marked with Mercedes Benz emblem of quality and is pretty much plugnplay, I will make a full report once fitted.

And this does come the drilled whole for the camera right? My 08 c300 does not have a whole drilled, but it does have it marked.
Thank you

This is a common thing, parts in kits are much cheaper than buying the parts separately,
I just checked and the camera alone A204 820 62 97 cost $720
Yes, the chrome trim comes with the hole for the camera pre punched. And if installing by the book you need to add the SA code 218 and then SCN code the car to add the feature, a lot safer than fiddling in engineering mode.
When adding the code to the VIN, the EPC and other Daimler systems will be updated worldwide and now contains all parts retrofitted in the OEM kit, camera, trim, wiring and so on.
The system also gets visible for the Xentry Diagnosis System.

Do you by chance have a part # for the kit for a 08 c300.
I spent about $150 for non oem and drilling my own hole.
I thought the camera really costs $700 not $250 for the whole kit. Lol

No kits available for pre facelift I am afraid, but according to me it cant be that much of a difference, the facelift kit for a sedan is numbered A2049055303

Its the chrome trim, it has a hole where the camera is placed, you can easily modify the original trim to make it fit, but its included in the kit so I dont have to
Here´s what I have done so far:
Fitted the camera and the trim
imgur
Heres the connector for the camera, Cable is taped up with felt tape as well as the sharp edges.
photo hosting sites
A bit awkward to do this at home as you always miss some special tools
how to do a screen shot
Now I need to fit the voltage regulator and route the cable from the camera, to the regulator, towards the HU.

Very good photos, but would you please say how you got the inside trim off the tailgate. I have so far managed to remove the plastic covers from the inside tailgate handles and unscrew 4 x T20 screws securing them to the metalwork. Have also managed to release the 2 outside spring clips on the plastic trim but it still appears well secured in the middle area above Licence Plate. I don't want to apply too much force, I'm assuming it is also secured by similar spring clips, but not sure where or what direction to tug at them. Advice appreciated. Incidentally I have had the Command ASU out of the dash board to check on wiring and my car appears to have video connection cable (pre-wired) and already in place (i.e. there's a connector in green socket) I'll enclose a photo of the wiring into Command ASU and would welcome any advice on wiring. That's really why I want to get trim off to access behind chrome trim just to see what wiring exists in the hope of discovering the other (camera) end of the green terminal connected to the ASU.

If you have removed the outer plastic trim were the handles ar placed, just pull the entire "door panel" straight down with a firm pull.

Thanks for your prompt response. I did attempt this, but found it quite difficult to get a decent grip on the trim and was consequently rather concerned about damaging it. Are there in fact 2 or more hidden spring clips above or near the Licence Plate? And assuming I do manage to get it off, will it then expose the wiring loom to the lights and other things etc? I'm actually looking for evidence of a pre-wired video cable. It would save me (and everyone else installing a camera) a lot of trouble. Incidentally I also unscrewed the 2 Torx screws from the underside external panel housing the number plate illumination lights, but they didn't appear to release anything either, Does this panel (into which you fitted your camera) need to come off as well? Is there some thing to be released from inside to get it off? My car's a late 2009 W204 and its slightly different in small detail to the C180 shown on an excellent video by 'Mr Scott52' on YouTube, who has posted 2 very good video's about accessing the wiring of his Command Unit and detailed info fitting 'an after market' rear view Camera to a saloon. I consider they' re both well worth looking at, it shows his camera installed and running.
I'm unsure whether its OK to include direct links to relevant YouTube posts, so have temporarily removed them until clarified

Step by step:
Loosen 4 T20 screws behind handle covers
Hold on to handles and yank plastic trim straight back, disconnect both lights, closing button and speaker connector.
Hold on to the large cover on both sides close to the window and pull firmly downwards, it will snap right out of place.
To loosen the chrome trim
Unscrew two T20 from the outside
Unscrew two T20 from the inside close to the opening handle, the left one is pain to access!
Pull the chrome trim downwards, it is attached with four of the same clips as the large door panel.
Good luck

Thanks Vic, that's appreciated and I'll have another go. I've searched extensively through other posts, particularly relating to Estate tailgate on this BB and elsewhere, relative to this topic and found unfortunately that many 'fall 'short' on vital info, either with inactive links or lost images...that's a pity.
Incidentally, I have re-instituted the YouTube links showing reverse camera installation in my earlier post, having just received clarification from Moderator here that it's OK to include on this BB

Vic- so you are saying the rear camera can be added to the Audio 20 on a 2013?
If so- will it work if I have the Becker Map Pilot installed?
