Cool Time to replace the motor mount

Hey Guys.

Time has come to replace the motor mounts and the transmission mount. While at Benzel Busch MB or Englewood NJ for an unrelated repair (replace the Sat Module that SiriusXM kindly offer to replace after 7 weeks of legal battle and 2 BBB complaints) (Thanks to Mike McKeenan from SiriusXM), the consultant told me as a sales pitch, that I needed to replace my motor and transmission mounts. Because I am a polite devil I asked him to write it up, that I was gonna put it on my agenda. He came back with a nice warm paper estimate of $1700.00 to replace all 3 mounts. I had to turn around and tell my daughter to watch over my son not to laugh at the guys face. I am pretty good with tools and do most of my modifications my cars and a motor mount is a motor mount. Nothing electronic or electric so I figure since I have access to a garage with ramps, jacks, lift, ratchets, many extensions and many tools, that I will try to do it myself. So far I know that the transmission mount can be replaced rather quick and the passenger side but I hear that the driver side is the tricky one because of the header. Don't hold me to it as I have not seen it yet.
So I come to you all to see if there is a DIY (searched and couldn't find it)or if anyone has done the job before that can give me pointers.

Thanks a bunch,

Manny

I am interested to know what year model & how many miles your car has done to need new engine mounts ?

Are you experiencing any symptoms eg vibration?

Make sure that you are not being over-serviced.

In the last post in the link below are the MB WIS details on changing a 220CDI engine mounts. It might give you some idea what you are up for.

Good luck,

John.

I have a 2009 C220CDI had all the engine mounts replaced at 120K klm

looks like they have to be replaced again, traveled only 50k Klm.

It looks like I'm going to have to replace them every 50-60K KLM

Surly this is not normal?

when I had these replace 3 years ago M/B dealer-ship quoted me Two thousand dollars fortunately for me they ended up replacing them for nothing.

I had a quote form another mechanic today that only works on Mercedes and he has quoted me between $500.00 - $650.00 parts & labour which I feel is a fair price.

No luck at the MB dealer had the mounts checked and they say there's nothing wrong with them.
However my mechanic still maintains that the vibration is coming from the mounts,he suggested to replace the transmission mount to if that alleviates some if not all the vibration.
He quoted me about $90.00 all up, so I'll take him up on it in a few months and see.

Hope you have success . $90 is not too bad to find out I suppose.

How does the vibration present itself ? . Under load or coasting etc.

I just have a slight vibration at idle and and a little more in drive or reverse, under load it's fine.

I maybe getting a tad paranoid that's why I'm going to wait a little longer to see if it gets any worse.

I'm due for a service just after Xmas I may replace it then.

That's pretty crazy! Are our mounts rubber or urethane? If they are rubber, maybe there is a urethane upgrade available that should last you a lot longer.

Just had my engine and transmission mounts replaced, and my transmission fluid flushed all for $1,200 by my indie... I'm happy - night and day difference with the vibrations, car feels like a maybach now...(owing nothing to the fluid change). All in all, it was a good deal. 2008 C300 4matic

good work and not a bad price to keep an entire day of your life to yourself rather than under the car

how many miles on your 204?
