2008 C300 Won't Start!!!
My first post here so I want to say thanks, although I wasn't a member I was always coming here for advice on my car (car details below).
Everything was working fine and then I got in my car at the store and my baby would not start the whirrr sound was there when I inserted key, lights, radio, alarm, everything worked! I initially thought battery which it was not. I then thought starter which it was not. I read some stuff about EIS and the steering column itself. Luckily I was on somewhat of a hill so I coast started my car. 😏 I take it to the dealer and they have it for a week before I hear anything.
They tell me it is the command module which will be $3100 plus tax!
😡😝
I have been trying to find some information on this part and can not. Can you fine folks help me out a little bit, please...
Thank You
Also was there not a recall about similar issues for this model?
2008 Mercedes Benz C300, Sport, 6-speed stick, RWD, Pittsburgh,PA
It sounds like a simple dead battery.
Maybe something is wrong with your COMAND unit and it's causing a parasitic draw which killed the battery. I'd certainly figure out the problem before forking all that money over to the stealer.

Did the car crank normally but not start?
You say it however started by running down a hill?
Please check:
Check start enable fuses 6, 7, 19, 27
Have the battery properly load tested.
Starter relay in the front SAM
Starter motor & engagement solenoid.
When you talk about Command module. Do you mean Comand i.e. The Radio/Navigation unit?
What you are describing does not sound like an EIS failure although it might be.

The car did not crank normally. I would turn the key to start and nothing would happen. On the first couple tries it sounds like it wants to turn the slightest but nothing. Yes the comand module that is associated with radio is the only command module I could find any type of information on. That is why I'm over here thinking the stealership is trying to pull a quick one. And yes the car would run perfect when coast started because it being a stick. No lights on the dash or any prompt that would signify something isn't right.

Please check. On W203 it was always fuse 52.

Like Glyn said, make sure that battery is properly LOAD tested. If the mechanic simply checked for good voltage that's not adequate to diagnose.
