2011 C300 6.2in display DVD/GPS
Finally did it. Upgraded that tiny display to the "BIGGER" boy screen. Includes DVD/iPOD/touchscreen/GPS. Great display. I love it. If you are like me, you are tired of the tiny one as well.

Not true. It's pretty expensive compared to what I paid. Although, I will say that Mercedes COMAND factory system is the best I've ever seen out of any vehicle with factory navigation. This is just aftermarket. But it does the job. DVD, youtube video, expandable, iPod, touch screen, SD, USB, ect.

BlueCougar, thanks.
The factory display still shows, all knobs work. When you want to go to the other interface, just hold the "back" button. There's only improvements along with factory look. Installed it all myself. Took 6 hrs. It takes me only 3.5 now, being I just done one of my friends as well.

Thanks. Bought from alibaba online. I started with the simple little 4 in. screen that everyone hates. 1-10 install? Give it a 4. 10 being the easiest. It wasn't the easiest thing to do, but I made it happen. I forgot to mention, all the factory functions normally, like the standard radio, with the hit of the back button. The DVD mounts in the glove compartment. I will take pics ASAP.

That's my favorite part. I can do everything while driving, including insert navigation inputs. There is a safety feature that you can unlock via the menu. It will ask you, BRAKE? It is a simple on or off. And you are good to go. Turning it off allows you to control DVD/GPS via touch screen or knob. Posting pics tomorrow. Want sufficient light.

Look forward to the pics! I am wondering if satellite radio works too? What powers the DVD? And does sound work through factory speakers?
Sorry for firing question but I am in the market myself!!

No worries. Someone has to play guinea pig. After installing mine with backup camera, I absolutely love it. I have installed in 2 other C300 vehicles. Beats that tiny screen that does nothing, thats for sure. They love it as well. The harness is plug and play. Everything powers from the factory harness that bridges between. The standard screen uncrews and detaches from a hard plastic bracket. Next is the harnesses. It is a PIA trying to stuff the radio back in place because the harness is huge. The sound is the same. It apparently just uses the same amplifier, just adds the DVD/NAVI as part of the interface. I hate the volume in the factory units. Wish it was louder.

The one I am looking at is a motorized screen with the same functionality you describe. I am not sure I am daring enough to try the install myself. I've done so many radio installs in my day but everything about the Merc electrical system scares me..

Attached is what I purchased from alibaba.com including some more attached pics. I have now installed 4 systems in Mercedes C300/350. Glad the word is getting out. I hated that small screen, lol. The DVD unit fits in the glove compartment, along with the SD slot, USB cable, IPOD cable, and GPS SD slot. I ran an iPhone/ipod composite cable(RCA L/R/video) to the AUX harness to watch videos and youtube through the head unit. The harness also includes a video out if you wish to add other screens. But if you're like me, you want to look as OEM as possible. This is your answer. You can control by either knob or touchscreen.
As for satelite radio, you can connect your XM or Sirius to the AUX port. The unit does not support it, but your factory should. Not sure. If that is the case, you can always hold the back button next to the armrest knob and go back to your normal stereo settings. The unit syncs with your factory radio. Just hold the CLR button and it switches to interface mode on the second pic. Hold the CLR button again and it switches back to standard factory radio/disc. Holding the BACK button takes you to the GPS Navigation.
I'm looking to take a step further and add the AppleTV so I can view iphone/ipod mirroring. Possibilities are endless.
