any bikers?
I'm curious what you would recommend for racks? Should I save money and get a cheaper trunk carrier or drop $400 and get a thule tower/rack? I don't really ski so it would only be for a bike. Or?
Mostly interested in what you have and how well/not well it works.

I ride and just stick my bike in the trunk, fold down the seats, take off the front wheel and it will fit. Plenty of room for all your gear as well.
That being said, if you're planning on taking more than one bike, the OE rack may be best.

Interesting about the trunk. I need to ask, are you an MTBer or a roadie? I ride trails and I run a very wide bar at 720mm. I haven't tried but I'm wondering if that is too wide to fit on the rear end of the trunk.
Regarding the OEM MB rack, I did a quick google on it and will that assembly mount on any towers or only the MB towers? the holster assembly is only $60 and I could scrape up some towers quickly if I wanted to. Unless they only work with MB brand..

I'm primarily a roadie but I also do single track trail riding. I've got hard tail 26er. It fits with the front wheel off as well. A trials bike may be different given they're a lot beefier. All I can tell you is try and see if it fits.
To be honest, I don't know much about the OE rack, I'm just assuming that it's your best bet in terms of fit. If I eventually get a rack, it will be an OE rack.
