Does anybody do this besides me?

Does anybody do this besides me?
Just did my first oil change in my C...using the old fashioned drain plug method... and upon all the draining of the oil I gave the engine a little flush with a quart of new oil and let that drain out. Then I closed the drain and filled it up with fresh oil. Anybody else do this extra "flush" ? Ive done this with all my cars and feel like it gets rid of all the burned old oil that can get left in there. Makes me feel good when i finally see amber/light colored oil drain out by the end of the "flush quart".

nah, one quart does the job of giving me peace of mind when i see the end of the draining oil a light color. you should try it next time.
and each quart costs me $6.5 not $9. seems like what im wasting on my flush you are wasting on overspending on your oil..at least 20$ in your case. thats TWO cocktails

I drop a little new oil in until it comes out the drain. I don't think you need a quart though.

Total waste of money. Just like the last guy said, you're not flushing much of anything with a quart just passing through without running through the engine. Plus its completely unnecessary unless you have a sludge problem. And even then, dumping a quart of oil through the engine wouldn't help anything.

You're probably better off with that Liqui Moly flush product that you put in 10 minutes before an oil change and run the engine to supposedly loosen all the contaminants. Even then I doubt it does a hell of a lot. When I changed my oil I didn't even wipe out the inside of the filter housing and put the new filter and seals in with some of the residual oil still left in the housing.

I like to spill a little clean oil on the ground right before I start, makes me feel good and never had any engine issues from it. Maybe it's wine not sure but I'll take one of them cocktails if you stop wasting oil

On older cars, its a good idea. As your first oil change, its not necessary. This was more common for older generations, when near microscopic metal shavings and natural oils were a concern but with newer engines and full synthetic oils that's not a significant concern.
With my supersport motorcycles, I do this all the time even when new engines and full synthetic oils...but about half a quart and with the engine fully warmed up. (no worries about burning myself)

Any dirty residual oil will be cleaned when you throw in a new oil filter. You probably have maybe 2 ounces of old oil in the block itself. And the parts of the engine that the oil you pour reaches are few and very limited. Save the $9 for some good beer when the job is finished. And I change the oil on my Lexus every 5k and it has 196k on it now.

Just suck the oil out & change the filter. These cars have large sumps so the oil charge is not highly stressed. 10K drain intervals are sensible & conservative. Remember the change interval used to be 13K with fleece filter. Regular oil changing at 10K miles or 1 year is far more important than getting the last few drops of oil out.
The only caveat would be a neglected engine with severely oxidised oil in it. Then you want to get it all out because oxidation of the old oil catalyses oxidation in the new oil charge.
