'Squeeeeeeeeeek' when turning wheel - 2008 W204 C220

Hi guys,
Only have my 2008 C220 W204 a week, delighted with it (nice upgrade from 3 series)

Only issue i've discovered so far. When engine running (hence have power steerling), when I turn wheel (in either direction), while the wheel is turning there is a low-audible, but kind of high-pitch 'squeeeeeeeeek'.

I cannot replicate this when engine not running, but then again I cannot turn wheel much (or fast enough) when no power assist steering.

Just wondering if it's a common issue that needs rectifying (car comes with 6 month warranty) or something I can just live with? You can't hear it when stereo or fan is on, only when there is no other noise at all can you hear it.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

-Edit- I can only hear this when in the cabin, not from outside, there is no change in noise from the steering pump. When I put my ear up to the wheel, it sounds like it's close-by but i'm worried that the sound could be transferring up the steering shaft

Thanks for the link.

The symptoms in the above link don't match my issue though - the pitch of the noise isint' variable. Will check fluid level now, although dealer said all this was checked before purchase (but you can't believe everything you're told)

While it's unlikely, check the power steering fluid reservoir. I had an Audi a few years ago which started making a squeaking / gentle binding noise when I turned. Checked the reservoir to find bubbles (!); there was a leak in the rack which required servicing.
