2012 HID Install (questions)

He guys, few questions about my HID install.

I have halogen reflectors that will scatter the light everywhere (ok, that's handled).

55w 6000k H7 Lows
55w 4500k H7 Highs
relay kit for each system
capacitor on each bulb (to avoid flicker)

I was running this set up for about a week. I received dash errors every time the lights would come on due to the canbus system. Click OK and the errors go away and lights work fine. Last night on my drive home the lights flickered twice almost un-noticeably and then cut off. They wont turn back on, at all. I've been driving with my high beams on since (which I do feel bad about but I'm not sure which ticket will be less, driving without lights or driving with high beams on).

I ordered resistors last night which it is my understanding will clear the errors but a friend with a Ram said if the lights now will not attempt to turn on it is due the computer trying to save the system and the dealer will have to reset the headlights. Can anyone confirm this? Do I just need to go to the deal and ask them to "reset my headlights"?

You should had gone for the canbus error cancellors instead of the relay harness. The canbus error cancellors will take care of the bulb out messages and let the HID's stay on.

Btw, if you know your lights are scattered everywhere, then you should consider the Morimoto Mini H1 projectors. These projectors are one of the best mods I've done on my C.

Good luck.

The canbus error canceller are just resistors from my understanding, so that is what I ordered last night.

Did you do a retrofit on yours? I want to do one on mine but am looking for some cheap OEM lights to do it to so I dont have to rush on my only set of lights.

I have the reflective housing on my 2014 C300 4matic sport. Can I get these morimoto projectors? My halogen bulb type for highs and lows are H7?

Links to sites would be great.

Thanks!

Sorry, I meant to say I installed the Mini H1's for my other daily, it's a 8th gen civic. The projection output easily beats the oem halogen projectors by a long shot whether it's width or distance, and it's bi-xenon!

Here you go, yes, you can still install the projectors even if your 2014 w204 has reflectors. Make sure to get the H7 canbus wires. The mini gatling shrouds screw into the projectors so there's no glue required too. Highly recommended

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the tip! I was so disappointed that I didn't get the optional lighting package but with this, I'm super excited.

Do you suggest going with different shrouds? I'm looking for an easier setup but something that still looks good. There are so many options but the other ones require sanding and the mini gatling ones seem easier to install. Do you have pictures from your car?

They have another model similar to the H1 but for the D2S bulb http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com...l#.UwIqmfldWSo

Not sure which one to get? I guess I don't need Halo's for mine?

This isn't mine, but it looks like the one this person did here: http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/diy-h...gen-civic.html
I just left mine oem chrome. Also, spend the extra 10 dollars and get the butyl glue, when you're packing the glue, make sure to stretch them out real thin, just a little bit will do. I packed mine way too thick and they were oozing out of the sides of the housing quite a bit when I was snapping the tabs back.
Also, when re-heating the housing, I rushed and set the oven at 250 degrees. It burned the sides of the housing a little. Always set the temperature lower and leave the housings in there longer. 220 degrees for 20 minutes will be ample to soften up the glue.

Here's another video for reference of a mini h1 retrofit on an accord:

Just for reference, you can open up and seal back your headlight housings this way (starting with post #106): http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...ned+headlights

Good luck
