COMAND Update in US
i have the 2013 C-250 sedan.
Was wondering if there is any site where I can know if there is a software and/or firmware update available for the COMAND unit?
I read on these forums, that its a free upgrade under warranty.
TIA

2020 S560 Coupe & 2018 GLS63 AMG
The COMAND SW/Firmware update is done by the dealer. I've always been able to get it done under warranty. The only thing I know of that can be upgraded yourself is the Navigation Map updates. Those come on DVD and each DVD is specific to a certain set of models/years of cars. For example, the map upgrade DVD for my 2011 C300 that I used to own...it covered 08-11 C-Class, 10-12 GLK's, and 11-13 SLS AMG's. There are different versions of COMAND (NGT4, NGT4.5, etc.)....so the DVD's are specific to your COMAND version. I've seen several threads on here where someone buys the map update (usually $249) and then sells it to another member at a discount, and then that person sells it to the next guy at a discount, etc. Obviously, not quite "legal", but $249 for a map update is ridiculous when Garmin and others include lifetime map updates when you buy their unit (which usually costs less than our map updates!). Map updates can be bought from the dealer or online. Navigation.com is one site that is legit.

I was under the impression that a new "Mercedes Benz Navigation DVD 2014" to do a map update on the navigation system also had a Comand Firmware update as part of the update or that alternatively you could buy a "Mercedes Service Disc" to do the Comand Firmware update independently of a map update. Can anyone confirm this specifically please? In many cases people at the dealerships simply don't know much about this at all.
