Question C or S in snow?

Does it even matter if in sport or comfort in the snow?

hi, I have a CLS550 and Comfort works better for me. It takes off in higher gear.....2nd. More traction.

S might get some wheel slippage off the line, but if you like to downshift to slow down, then S would work better.

I shift it manually to use the engine speed to provide more subtle control

C is what you want. As noted above the car starts off in 2nd gear; you want LESS torque in snow..

C

you want to take it easy in snow/ice. you do not want any xta power S will provide.
you want to take it easy - maintain a even speed. do not tailgate. if you see someone tail-gating. move back from the, they DO NOT know how to drive in the snow. bad things can go very wrong real fast. DO NOT use your speed control - just like you do not want to use your cruise control in the rain or wet roads. can hydro plane then the you are going 70 with you fron tires breaking surface of the road.
as in snow -take you foot off the brake and allow the car to slow itself. if you spin or lose traction shift to a lower gear - AND yes SHIFT you automatic trans. to a lower gear. pretend you have a raw egg under you gas peddle and your break peddle.

one more thing - if you lose traction - put you transmission in "N"
this stops the forward movement of the transmission and give you more control in a sliding situation

We have folks here from various countries and backgrounds, so spelling and word usage sometimes need flexible interpretation, but more power to them. Their English is better than most of us know their languages!
