Bracket in center armrest storage?

2017 C300
Bracket in center armrest storage?
In my 2012 C300, the center armrest storage compartment has outlets for the iPod and the other cable for music. But on the driver side of the compartment, near the top, is a small shallow lip that appears would hold something.

Does anyone know what is supposed to go there? The edge of my iPod touch does not fit in it.

A support for the Telephony System appears to the answer. The phone "cradle" interlocks with the small bracket in the console as shown in the photo on the link you sent. Mystery solved, and now I won't go wondering how I can use this small bracket. Thanks.
