2013 C300 4matic buying advice

My wife drives a 2012 Mini Cooper countryman ALL4 that has been in the shop 4 times in 2 years for significant issues. After looking at a 2012 g37x coupe, 2012 IS250/350 and 2013 C300, the C300 is by far our first choice (AWD outperforms the infiniti and styling is way better than the lexus).

I've been reading a lot on your boards about transmission issues, but I can't tell from what I've read if this is isolated to earlier models or if it includes the late models, specifically the 2013.

Can anyone help by clarifying if this is a significant issue with 2013s and/or if there are other major concerns? My buddy owns a 2008 Benz that has had very little issues. He claims that later models, and specifically the C class, have really improved their reliability.

Thanks!

I believe they're reliable as long as you do the right maintenance at the right time. Make sure it's carried out correctly and I think the car will last a long time.

The only transmission problems I have heard on this forum about on a 2013 C300 4Matic is driving on an uphill slope and the automatic shifting is not smooth and very jerky. However, not all of the C300 4Matics are like that.

In addition, some individuals on here have fixed this issue with a simple update in the software due to it being out of date.

I will end it here by leaving everyone else to comment and address other issues, in which I do not think there are.

2013 is still too new to tell if it's going to have the same transfer case issues as the earlier years.

Thanks everyone. I love this car, just wanting to do all my due diligence so I don't end up with another vehicle like the Mini.

Only time I ever have shifting issues is when the engine + transmission are cold, like cold start at -30C cold. Driving out of the garage, no issues.

8500 miles, purchased June 2013 No issues. Also had a 2011 C300 4matic that was problem free for 25000 miles.
As the others stated, follow the maintenance recommendations and make sure you document any issues with MB. They seem to be addressing warranty issues in a professional manner.
