ECU Tune
Who has their ECU tuned? How's the performance difference, i.e throttle response, gas mileage? Who did you use for it? Thinking about getting it done but at $800-$1000 , want to make sure it's worth it since that is a handful of mods at that price.

I have a tune...but before I even go into pros/cons about it, I'm curious what YOU think 1k will get you as far as performance mods are concerned (other than a set of Michelin Pilot SS of course).

I had a tune from OE Tuning on my c300 and did not feel much difference. Technically I was supposed to gain a max of 18HP at 3000rpm. Most of my driving is below 3000 RPM but even when I mashed on the pedal I still couldn't fee the difference much. I ended up returning. I probably only had it for a week or 2 so I can't comment on gas mileage. Throttle response was the same to me.

Gas mileage took a wee bit of a hit but I am driving it hard. For the last 6000 miles, I had 22.9 mpg. After 800 miles driving with tuned ECU, it went down to 22.8 mpg so wasn't a big deal to me.
I contacted loungn14 (Eurocharged forum Sponsor) and got some deal for remote tuner so I can flash my ECU at home and re-flash to stock anytime I want. It is cheaper than $800. Definitely the best bang for your buck if you want performance improvement. I don't see any other mods that could improve as much with that price tag.
I don't know how it would be different for C300 but I read in some threads here the ECU tune C300 won't open throttle as much as the C350. I could be wrong.

I had my 08' C350 ECU tuned by Eurocharged. It is so worth it to me. It completely changes my driving experience. I didn't do Dyno before and after so I can't tell much about that. However, throttle response was drastically changed. The lags were also gone. For my C350, making a corner and slowly getting up to speed after corner was embarrassing. Anyone can pass me out of corner. Same with red/green traffic light stop and go. After the tune, it is so much better. I don't need to completely floor it and still can easily overtake or leave cars far behind when the red turns green (in Comfort)

I got a remote tuner (OBD2 programmer, for me to keep) and mod C350 ECU for $650. I back up my stock ECU file so I can re-flash ECU back to stock anytime I want . Kleeman doesn't have remote tuner. There was some threads talking about OE Tuning. I decided to go Eurocharged in the end since they do some good work on C63 tune.

$599 for the handheld tuner and tune, shipped... The price also includes free updates to the software if we make software revisions, or free updates if you change mods or location.

On your site, a eurocharged c300 gains 26HP. But at what RPM? Also do you have a price for PC version? Or is that not possible on the c300 and handheld is required? Sorry, just a little bit confused on the information online.

Also curious about this. I emailed my local Eurocharged in the DC area but never got a response. I was hoping to learn more and stop in to get it flashed.
So what is the exact process for the tune if having it shipped?

We ship you the unit
You install software on your computer, and connect the unit. It generates a serial key. You email us over that key
We generate a unlock and email it back for you to update the device
You hook the unit to the car and read the stock software off, hook it back to the pc and email off the file
We customize the tune based on that file for your mods/elevation/gas and email back
You load the file on the handheld, and then onto the car.
You can then flash between stock and tuned whenever you want without need for us to do anything (dealer visits)

Jerry - jumping into the thread. ECU/TCU in the CLK55 was sweet! Took her to a reputable Benz Indie shop for standard service A and now she drives like a school bus. Since I bought the tune, what will the handheld run me so I can bring her back to life?? With that I'll exit your thread and thanks. BTW - If you're wondering about an EC tune - don't think twice. Jerry and crew are great people - and the tune - well, just trust me.

It seems worth it to me, especially being able to switch back to stock. Price per HP/Torque and overall responsiveness as reviewers have mentioned sounds good. That being said, I still haven't gotten around to ordering it!

Yeah, you're looking at 60+ horsepower from Kleeman. Other companies offer pretty pathetic tunes.
