TPMS Direct and indirect

My W204 have indirect TPMS.Thesystem shows a message to check tires if there is low pressure. The system doesn't show the pressure of each tyre. Can we buy direct TPMS and show the exact pressure of each tyre?

That's strange. My 2012 c350 shows it. Might be a firmware update? Id start by checking part numbers for the c250 vs 350 on the tpms.

The tire pressure displays on the gauge in the center of the speedometer for me. Do you not have that display?

the indirect system uses the traction control system to check the tires so there is no real pressure check

Well EPC shows the system consisting of the tpms sensors in the wheel and control module that looks like its in the rear spare wheel well. Additionally there should be and antenna in each wheel arch plus associated wiring. Its probably prohibitively expensive to change systems.

Not sure if your car is prewired to detect the TPMS sensors on the car. Canada does not legislate direct TMPS on cars. Some cars have it, others just uses the ABS and traction control to determine if the wheel is low on air. I prefer this system. I use 2 sets of tires. One for the winter and do not have to worry about the added cost of putting TPMS on the winter set. You will need to replace them regularly as well as these units have a battery sealed in the housing and cannot be replaced. Not sure what the lifespan is.

So its better to don't have direct TPMS in your opinion. Front this view you are right.

Hi , my c63 is equipped with Tire Pressure Loss Warner. Planning to upgrade my wheels from oem 18" to 19". Will i get any warning message? will upgrading to 19" affect traction control and sense a different diameter thus displays a warning message TIa

Agreed with this. It's much less of a hassle this way, especially when having two sets of wheels and tires. It does a good job too, it can detect a difference of about 5psi

edit: and I just noticed the age of this thread, oops
