Decided to change out the filters on the C300 last week with the K&N version from Advance Auto Parts.
Install took me about 10 minutes and first impression is the throttle feels more lively. I didn't reset the shift points or anything but I feel it's a little more lively throughout the power band.
So for $78 with the 20% off coupon I feel like it's a good addition even though it might be all in my head.

Pity they don't filter properly.

Does anyone know if there's any benefits from doing this? Besides being able to wash and re-use the same filter.

A few years back, I put the K&N filter on my W208. Driving around I do not see anything different (power or mileage), the 2nd weeks, the CEL come on, my mechanic said : BAD MAF SENSOR. I guessed the oil in the K&N made the sensor dirty. Before I replace the MAF SENSOR (almost $200.00), I stop by Chief auto parts store, buy a can of MAF cleaning fluid, I clean the MAF sensor, have it dry overnight, put it back the next day, I also took the K&N out, put back the paper filter. No more CEL. Never look back, never use K&N again but ONLY OEM filters. You feel your car "more lively" that's in your head. You should do a dyno BEFORE & AFTER be sure it "more lively" NOT by the seat of the pant. MB is a very complex & sophisticated car (in engine management wise), I do not want to spend a lot of money to fix a problems (causing by myself) while the car is running fine. I believe MB is tuned to the MAX for each model (C300, C350 & performance C63 AMG for W204), take the pick to your driving style before buying the car, rather UPGRADE the power like most Japanese cars. It would not help you wallet .Originally Posted by muskaroxs
