6-speed manual owners: please help - bleeding clutch line
Can someone point me in the right direction as to where the clutch slave cylinder is located? Couldn't locate it from the top of the engine bay. Called the dealership and they don't even know exactly where it is (either on the transmission bell housing or within the housing itself). I'm trying to bleed my clutch line, as I think there might be some air in it, or it just hasn't been bled before. My clutch pedal gets a bit stiffer after continuous driving, but softens to normal again after letting the car sit for a few hours.
I haven't gotten under the car yet. Wanted to get some input here before I try getting under there.
Thanks everyone!
Chris
Just finished bleeding the clutch (about 100ml), and the difference is literally night and day. The clutch is as smooth as butter. As I was bleeding, the air came out in the form of an aggressive spray. When the bleed was consistent again, I assumed the air was completely flushed out. It took about 8 pumps of the clutch.
Thank you again. As other 6-speed owners have mentioned, this is definitely worth doing. The dealer was charging an hour of work ($145), but I bought the DOT4+ fluid for $25 and did it myself.
