I replaced the cabin air filter this morning, but found there was no metallic clip holding up the filter. This is the first time I have replaced the cabin air filter (stealership did it in the past) and I know there should be a metal clip. The filter seems to hold up fine, but I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue. I can't find a replacement clip anywhere on the web.
I went to change mine and it didn't have a metal clip either.
there is a plastic slide which seems to hold everything together just fine so i didn't bother.

The MANN cabin air filters have the rectangular holes on the end for the clips, which should be attached to the ends of the filter receptacle. They spring off easily. I used a magnetic antenna to retrieve it from under the seat. The slide will hold the filter in, but I like the extra seal provided by the clips. Mine is a 2008 C300.
There were definitely no clips when I pulled the plastic housing down and saw the air filter for the first time. It seems to be holding up fine just using the white plastic clip attached to the air filter. If anyone knows where the clips can be bought, let me know. Autohaus AZ doesn't have them.

Lost one clip as well. Filter seems to be secure. I notice a slight whistle with the new filter that I didn't hear with the old one. Will this go away?
The clips are unnecessary, as long as the filter is seated properly and the sliding lock engages, it will be just fine. I put the clips back when they are still there, but 95% of people take them off and never put them back.
mmoore64, did you use an OEM filter? Is it installed the right way?
The clips are definitely there when purchased new. I had clips for the 1st 40k miles of ownership and even instructed the dealer not to touch them when doing service B maintenance since I change the filters myself. Unfortunately, on my last dealer visit (prior to my warranty expiring), the dealer changed it and lost the clips. I was originally upset but later brushed it off thinking maybe they did me a favor since I no longer have to struggle to keep putting them back on in the future (making lemonade of lemons). I've now been clipless for the last 55k miles with no issues.

Glad to hear that. Chances are I just lost both of mine.
Technically speaking, yes you do - WIS refers to removing them and then clipping them back.
The clips just ensure the filter stays sealed well as the ends can hang down over time and can make noise, see photos...I had the arrow pointed the wrong say here but same idea.

Hi, I just found your post and picture.

I need this clip because my filter housing also like your first photo. It hungs down....

Probably a duff pressure sensor. Check the aircon pressure via a scan tool to
verify the sensor
I dont have much experience with the AC except for in a previous car i decided to charge up the refrigerant and just added a can using a hose without a gauge, then the ac would not blow cold air. Turns out i way over filled it after buying a gauge and checking. After bringing it down to noraml level it worked properly. But searching around online for issues with eh air circulation button flashing i found someone who claimed replacing the CCU seemed to fix it. i have no idea what a CCU is.
Interesting I never noticed metal clips for the cabin filter. Mine are missing. I do see the open slot in the bottom of the filter. i think i can live without them. Whats the worst that can happen, air bypasses the filter and blows in from that gap into the car?
