Slow acceleration or is it just me?
Hi there,
few days ago i bought an automatic 220 cdi (2008 diesel).
When pressing the gas pedal it takes roughly 4 to 5 seconds till some real acceleration kicks in. Until then it just moves rather slowly.
I used to drive a mechanic car and I understand that automatic gear boxes take a couple of seconds to "think" , but isn't 5 seconds a little too much?
Or is it the same in all of them?
(By the way, the transmission seems to be fast to respond in higher speeds)

In a car that is supposed to do 0~60 in approx 8.8 seconds you can't possibly have 5 seconds of lag/latency.
Does the car smoke at low RPM under such conditions? Sounds like the turbo is not spooling up quickly enough.

Steps to Reset the TCU. Resetting the TCU will reset transmission to factory shift points and the car will 'relearn' your driving style.
(1.) Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
(2.) Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
(3.) Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
(4.) Wait at least two minutes for TCU to reset.

The car then will "re-learn" your driving style. If that dones't work, you can then look into a speedbooster/ pedalbox mod.

This is NOT a TCU reset ~ Old wives tale.
It is a throttle reset. All it does is align the throttle plate with the pedal.
Does not apply to diesels. Diesels run excess air. They "accelerate" by injecting more fuel.

No. the lag is programmed into the ECU. All it will do is assure when you floor it you achieve WOT.
