I question the reliabllity of these cars.
This car needs a compressor,expansion valve/block, receiver drier,and suction hose that may have caused the breakdown.I was told that this hose is a design flaw, its too close to the high temp engine parts. It collapsed internally and choked the system. $2037.05 to repair, I paid 247.14 to find all this out.
On a side note Power steering is starting to whine, backup cam gone black.
Am I alone or do most of you deal with this to drive a Benz.Ive owned 3 Lexus cars and never had issues.
Perhaps I'm just getting duked by the merc/bmw repair shop.That mailed me a 69.95 a/c service coupon. @#$#@%&

Other then that no its no too common for all these repairs..but if ur coming from lexus/acura yes these cars need alot more repair or scheduled maintenance as others will say. Reason why these cars depreciate the way they do.

This is the thing; It is not out of scope for this cars expected level of care required. Honestly, people think "oh a c63 is just 70k" but with all the gas, repair and royalty taxes for gas guzzler etc, makes it much more expensive upkeep wise. A regular c is the same way in comparison to other cars.
I have driven a 09 e350, 08e350, 09 c300 and own a 2010 luxury c300 and I drove/drive them all 50-100+ miles a day, consecutively, and got most of my cars to 100k. This C300 is currently at around 70 something thou miles. Compressor as in A/c? those things are overworked often by drivers and are exposed to bad conditions for an ac compressor. No surprise on that one; (edit: note aobut the two e classes, owned them at the same time... and based on different conditions my white one and black one would have different qwerks. based on where it went, what happened to it and who I let drive it =DDD ) The 2009 C was midway through getting rid of one E and then the Second.
There were catalytic converter repairs, the power steering mechanism is on recall status with 2010s so if urs is of that line, get that done. Mine whines too especially when stationary since the wheels haveto rub more and create more friction, requiring more effort. The sound is bad but not effecting of performance. Wont hurt the car but its best to replace the power steering pump entirely;
Honestly after repairing these pieces, theyre good for about as long as you had it before they f'd up the first time. Another 60k before those parts F up again. Minimal upkeep of around, 1500-3k a year for C300 repairs.... OR
every 2-3 years another 4 thou down payment-ish, and 350+ a month for a year. Minimum of 4k a year without any sort of down payment. Chances of needing 3k a year repairs on this C, are low. And any repair done, maybe decide to upgrade the part while your at it..... after careful research.
So yes, its a huge chunk of change.... but every time I switched my leases and always had warranties, it wound up costing more.... I lose my connection with my car, and truly miss it by the time tis gone. Which is right about the time I fell in love with it.
ANy Lexus, S550 or Maserati will have a whack ride on bad streets; people think oh If I buy an expensive car itll be perfect... no.. Watch those GS430s and other luxury cars and see the same wobble over bumpy streets, same body shift over uneven roads... Our Cs are quite the vehicle overall. And very deserving of ownership over 100k.
I proudly own my 2010 C300 luxury now, with no feelings of wishing to change. Sure, she needs some stuff again.... minor squeaks and creaks. Few hundred or so to tighten up things in door panel and dash noises...
Had around, 3k or so worth of repairs (under warranty) at about 45k. Expecting another couple thou soon, now that its out of warranty. But those parts are now nEW! and possibly tuner parts =D good excuse to splurge.
