7g plus - how to select manual?

Hi there

I've taken delivery of a 2014 amg sport coupe with the automatic gearbox, and I'm having trouble finding a way to select manual shifting. I seem to only have an E and an S mode, but no M

Am I missing something here? I'm in the UK if that counts

Thanks in advance

Notice the Minus and Plus sign on the bordering the drive mode? To downshift, move the *** to the minus sign(-) which is left. To upshift, move the *** to the plus sign(+) which is to the right.

To get out of this mode, hold the *** to the plus sign(right) for a 2 second duration.

P.S. This is not my picture, nor my car.

That's just the gear limiter, though, not manual mode.

I'm talking about actually selecting manual. It's in the booklet - but as an M mode. Mine only has E and S, which is still automatically controlled. The + and - signs are purely gear limiters, they don't actually control up and down shifts in the traditional sense.

Factory ordered 2012 MB C350 w/Dynamic Handling Package
You mean this?

I have it because it came with the "dynamic handling" package. Although I almost never ever use it because the shift logic in sports mode is more than good enough (which I rarely use as well).

+1

Also you can manually shift using the shifter up and down. That is close to manual. That won't limit anything. Ed.....what gives on the dirty car? no good man! LOL! also, how come your trim on the radio is white? Is that just a flash effect?

My car is rarely dirty.
That's all flash. Here's another angle no flash.

Its not available on all C class unless as already posted you have the Dynamic handling package or a C 63 with the double clutch trans.

IMO the transmission is the only thing that Im not satisfied with on my C250. it is slow to respond and the shifts are sluggish. Both of my previous Infiniti (G37 s and M45s) had far superior transmissions with rev matching technology.

2010 C300
we had a C250 loaner and that is one thing I noticed more than all else. The trans in my 2010 C300 was way way better shifting. That 250 just couldn't make up it's mind it seemed like. My C300 is damned fine on shifting. to the point that when I take it in for the trans fluid change I'm going to tell them NOT to update the trans FW. It's perfect as it is.

Dynamic Handling Package only for the M button. Here in states you could only get it if you special ordered from the factory. The dealers almost never configure the cars this way.

Of course you can shift into Manual transmission mode by pushing the stick left or right. The transmission will not upshift in manual unless you are at or near redline. It will shift down and back up.

I only use manual for engine braking going into corners or long downhill grades.

The moment you touch a paddle in mine you're in manual but then again in mine I have a E-S-M button where the one illustrated has just a M button.

C250
ehh I disagree about the 250 trans as long as im in sport mode it is damn good and shifts smooth as butter. Now the TSX my wife drives is confused as hell and shifts like a mule but its reliable as hell.
