Facts about Tranny fluids
Hey guys, i've been reading a few posts about swapping out Tranny fluids for my w204 at 30k miles, is this a MB recommended procedure or is this like an urban legend type of deal. I've spoken to my mechanic and he told me not to do it as it might expend some of the seals inside the tranny. i need some facts here. Thanks for the help!

I did mine at about 50K miles. The fluid was a little discolored, smelled fine, and the magnets in the pan had a light coating of particles. Nothing to be concerned about. It is an easy job if you don't allow yourself to get overly caught up in some of the procedures.
Jack it up, put it level on four stands, remove the belly pan, drain the fluid from the plug, remove the pan, remove the filter. wipe off the magnets, use a new filter, new bolts, new nipple, new gasket an re-assemble. Pump fluid in until it overflows, run the engine until the pan is warm to the touch, around 110 degrees F, add more fluid, when it stops running out ,replace the plug.

Have you checked your manual? I thought they revised the manual from lifetime fluid to interval change? As I said in another thread, I do it yearly just for peace of mind, it's not really expensive and it's preventative maintenance for me.
Uncle, I take it you don't have the 7g since your procedure didn't mention the TC drain?

Lot's of crap spoken on this subject. Unless you have a 722.9 Plus you should change the fluid & filter every 39K miles or 60K Km's for long transmission life.
Use only 236.14 approved fluid.
