KEYS LOCKED IN TRUNK PLS HELP
Hey everyone,
What a long day of frustration.... Ok so I managed to lock my keys in the trunk with my alarm still armed... I've had 2 seperate AAA locksmiths attempt to open the trunk with no success. I have the car unlocked successfully though... My spare key has also been misplaced/lost to add to all the frustration.
Also the mechanical spare is still within the same key that is trapped in the trunk.
I'm a paramedic and I work tomorrow and they say I have to get the car towed to mercedes benz dealer just to open the trunk??
I just tried having my girlfriend press on the trunk button simultaneously while I was popping fuses under the hood in and out. I don't think it helped. Does anyone know the exact fuse I need to be playing with??
Please how can I get the trunk open for my precious key... If you don't want to post for public please inbox me. I'm very desperate for help at this point.
Thanks

i'm really surprised the trunk handle isn't working, being the key is 'right there'.
i would say tow it, god that's frustrating, but i'm sure you've tried everything at this point.

I think what he's done is unlocking the trunk only whilst the car doors all remained locked, and accidentally leaving the keys inside the trunk when closing the lid. Though I'm not entirely sure how the hood was opened.
Perhaps try the MB road side assistant?

Do you have the P1 Package?
If so, I don't know if this is possible, but you know how you can fold the rear seats down for extra space? See if you can fold them down with some lever in the back, besides the lever to fold the seats down inside the trunk.
I don't know if there is a lever accessible in the rear as I never looked, thus is why I said I don't know if it's possible.
P.S. I don't know why you can't hit the unlock button inside the car and open the trunk with the button on the driver's side.

Well this started while my car was locked with the alarm activate... So I just pressed the "trunk open button" on the key, (thinking I was just going to grab something from the trunk and quickly close again) and accidentally closed the trunk with my key dropped inside when my dogs ran out of the front door!!
So even though the doors have opened by AAA, the alarm is still active and keeping the trunk locked, and key trapped.
The regular trunk open on the driver door won't work either... $158 for mercedes benz to open. I can't believe it...
Also my rear seats won't fold unless I unlock the latch from within the trunk... Great.
Still looking for any help, thanks.

I'm sorry to say but you are going to have to wait til tomorrow to get the car opened. I had the same problem; I ended up getting the cabin opened but couldn't get to get trunk at all. They towed my car and opened it this next morning ($130 fee too :/)

This happened to me last year.
This is cheapest way to do
1. call nearest MB dealer and give them vin#
2. order a spare key. Only order the key (not the whole thing with remote)
3. pick it up next day
4. pay around $50?
5. insert key in the trunk key slot
6. alarm will go off until you find your key and press red button
MB's trunk is like a safe....I guess people put cash in the trunk? so even though you open the doors, there is no way opening the trunk without key.
Well, you can chop the trunk apart ^^

due to the battery being in the trunk, when the keys are in there and the alarm is enabled all power shuts off so it is impossible to open it without the spare key, or going to a dealership. Found this out the hardway

The battery isn't in the trunk, when you open the hood, it is on the passenger side, top left of the car.

Well this is really different, never heard of this happening before. I do have both sets of FOB keys. So, I'm going to try and recreate this scenario just for curiosity sakes.

So, had the issue with me. Keys got locked in the trunk and opening the cabin without the keys, safelocked the trunk and the other doors. which means they wont open due to airpresure cut out.
now, what happened was i asked AAA to help twice.
no use.
2nd time. i got the doors opened again. and the alarm went off. now if in the begining if you can unlock the doors by pressing the door lock button ( the alarm will go off when the door is opened even after pressing the button.) then the fortune is in your favor. try to press the trunk button that is on the trunk. Stupid as it sounds. the safe. the tinny presue actually opens the trunk.
I wasted 2 AAA calls for one lock in 24 hours.

alright, herez the solution. If the doors are open, then open the HOOD. Let the alarm run its course. Disconnect the battery, wait about 10-30 mins. So secondary safty battery will run out or something. Then press the trunk release and it will open again.

The lock is located under the trunk lip above and the left of the license plate.
The alarm will sound but you can silence it by opening the doors with the key.

I haven’t had triple a come out but as stated above the car system still remains locked so after managing to get inside my car I still wasn’t able to unlock my trunk, start the car, or even unlock the car fully.

I suppose that a spare key isn’t available or this wouldn’t be a question.
Getting into the car doesn’t do much because the alarm is still activated. It has to be turned off with the key. You can open the hood and disconnect the battery, but that still doesn’t get into the trunk because the latch is electric.
The dealer does it with Xentry. A scanner that can access the security system can be used to open the trunk. Most people don’t have that.
There is an urban myth circulating that after disconnecting the battery, if the trunk open switch is held while the battery is reconnected, the trunk will open. It didn’t work for us. It doesn’t cost anything, so try it. You might get lucky.
The trunk itself has to be unlocked with a code entered into a key device that locksmiths have (don’t know about AAA). They must have the VIN and proof that you are the registered owner. It takes a bunch of phone calls. But it works, and I have seen it done successfully, at night, on the street, in the rain. But the locksmith will charge for this, too. The advantage is that the car doesn’t have to be towed to the dealer.

I have never figured out why people will not have a spare key kept at home for such situations. I know Mercedes keys are expensive, but so is getting locked out of your car if you lock the key in the trunk. Worse, if the key is lost.
I would say this is because you drive a Mercedes, but any modern car is going to have expensive keys.
